I called my midwife at 3 am with contractions 5-6 mins apart and increasing in intensity but things had still really been irregular and I know it wasn't happening - I just wanted his position checked so I could get a better idea of where I'm at.

She told me to take panadeine and have a shower and try to sleep. Things ramped up a bit in the shower but when I got out it all slowed down, so I went to bed and slept (with occasional interruptions) until about 11am.

Still all quiet on the baby front. Still in pre labour but there's at least 20 mins between at the moment, so I'll have a restful day to be ready for more tonight. This could still take a couple of days but I think I've worked through my frustrations now sow I'm ready for it and feeling mentally strong. Bring it on .

Question ladies- Anyone put together a birthing kit? I was reading in Birthings magazine about a birth which included Dolomite and Ribena Ice Blocks as being an essential. This of course made DH and I curious as dolomite is the main ingredient in kitty litter! Anyone able to shed any light on the dolomite and ribena ice cubes (google provided zilch) and also do other homebirthers recommend as part of a kit?
Never heard of them?!? I made labouraide for DS2 did't drink it in labor though it was really yummy leading up to it

    Congrats Ceres!! That's so exciting...

    Spicemum....hope everything is going ok!

Hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and a great new years!

AFM - I have my third appointment with my midwife this coming Saturday....is it weird that I will be 22 weeks and will have only had 3 visit with the IM?
Had the morph scan 3 weeks ago, and everything looks perfect! The baby's face was soooo cute....and my two girls and partner were able to be in there with me as well. We asked to know the gender, however baby was not being co operative at all! The scan went for over an hour!!! She did say she thought it might be a boy, as she was pretty sure she saw "boy bits" flash past her!

Anyway, am still working night duties at night...still haven't really started getting any baby stuff or birth stuff ready or organised...I haven't even bought half the things I need...I still feel like I have so much time left...although in reality it will probably just fly by!!

I am going to try to be a little more active on here, I read every post...just don't always answer!

Well after 5 days (3 without a break) of pre labour I got really frustrated and called my Doula in to support me so I could get to sleep last night and keep going. After a while I could not lie down anymore without a contraction so I had my midwife come and check me - he was only at 2/5 and I was about 2cm dilated. After sterile water injections for the back ache she left me with my doula and went home again leaving me with the impression I'd have another all nighter.

    1.5hrs later.

Samuel Paul came earth side or rather backyard spa side (sorry neighbours) still in his Caul. Needless to say I was very pleased with myself .

Later today he was weighed in at a comfortable 3.39kg, 52cm, 54cm HC.

Thanks for all your awesome birthing vibes.
