    Welcome Big Bird

I rang around at about 7/8 weeks i think (only found out at 6 weeks!)...my middy was the 3rd i had called. The first was booked, the second had just had a baby herself. Turns out this was all a good thing as i click really well with my middy. And she specialises in VBACs!
I would try and get in early if i were you.

Kiariel - i can't believe that! good on you for writing a complaint letter! i would have been furious too!

Hi Big Bird -- how exciting to be HB'ing your baby. Was it hard to get your partner on board? Where did you have your DS? I hope you find your perfect IM -- it sounds like everyone on here is happy with theirs!

    Chloeandme
, about the raspberry leaf tea -- I bought a packet of dry leaves and was going gung-hoe with it for a couple of weeks but now it makes me wanna puke. Now I might have a cup a night which is probably negligible in terms of effect. I've heard more women say 'it did nothing' than those who it helped. If it tasted nicer maybe I'd keep going . . .

Thermolicious, thanks heaps for the link. Reading those statistics makes me realise I'm absolutely doing the right thing, unfortunately I can never think quick enough to cite the facts when someone makes a snide remark. But most of the time I don't think the 'you're brave' comment is worth arguing. Also, this is my first baby so I still might need to use the hospy system and I don't want to be left eating my words.

Aya, I'm trying to find the lego video on YouTube, can I find it there? Any more keywords to help my search? Bummer about your in-laws by the way, they sound truly horrible.

That is hilarious!! What a cutie! My middie lent me "Dusty's Big Day Out" which doesn't seem to glamorise anything. I highly recommend it.

Dreambeliever, how are you feeling? You've finished work now? Are you nesting? Are you completely ready with hospital bag packed? I actually just need to know you're as slack as me -- I haven't even had the car seat installed yet, and my hospy bag just got UNPACKED. But I DID change my maiden name to my married name with VicRoads and Medicare after 5 years (which was probably the least important thing on my 'To Do' list). Can someone just come to my house and do all these last little jobs for me please?

I'm actually washing all the baby's clothes ATM but in regular detergent. Is this OK? (Please tell me it's OK -- besides changing my name it's the only thing I've done)

im feeling super awesome today lol i've got my music on and am dancing around the house cleaning
I was lucky enough to be able to finish work at 32 weeks (which was good as i work in childcare and it was getting difficult to lift and get up and down from the floor all the time!) DP was telling me from about 26 weeks "you don't have to work you know...just stop when you're tired"
My nesting seems to come in the form of gardening at the moment (probably cause i hate cleaning!) and there is just something about spring gardens and babies
    To be honest i haven't packed a hospital bag...and i don't think i will...think im too superstitious(sp?)!
I honestly haven't sorted most things for bub yet. Im really not worried this time around. I figure my boobs work so thats all i'll need .
The car seat is currently in it's box rolling around in the boot of my car...must get DP to get it out.

hope everyone is having a wonderful day today

    Welcome to the new HBers!!!!

I never packed a bag last time, never even crossed my mind I would need to transfer.

This pregnancy is going soooo fast. Half the time I don't even have the answer when people ask me how far along I am, I just have been saying "Over half way"

scarymarygoldfish - I will try and find the link and PM you with it

Dreambeliever - So glad you are feeling on top of the world!!!! I have had the week from hell, with the Tax Office and Telstra taking up an obscene amount of my time this week

Hope everyone is well and has a wonderful weekend

I must have missed a few days. It's been busy in here. Good to see. I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Traseal - Like you, I have always been clucky. I thing DD is warming a little but she's always been a bit modest and shy of the too much info side of things. I think she doesn't want to see too much of that side of her mother, lol. And thank you for the vote of confidence.

Dreambeliever - It's great to hear you're feeling so good.

Aya - your facebook story is priceless. I'd love to see that link too. It's great your partner is so supportive of you with his family being like that about it all.

Big Bird - Warm welcome . I agree with ChloeandMe we have same midwife and she and her group visit all over Melbourne. I was put onto her at 16 weeks after sacking two obs and ringing a number of midwives for advice.

Kariel - I hope you have a better experience if you have another scan. Well done for complaining.

ChloeandMe - I hope your dd is feeling better. I also hope this rain clears up a bit. I've been looking forward to the picnic all week. I hope you can make it.

ScaryMaryGoldfish - Homebirth in the hills did call me back after I left a message but I never did get back to her again. I had hoped you might know a bit about them. I'm a bit shy about joining groups. But finding this forum was great for talking to others with Homebirth in common.
Most of my friends are saying good on you when i tell them about HBing. Some come around more when I tell them about the midwives and backup plan(which I don't plan on needing) and some tell me of their hospital horror stories, which has just made me feel more confident in my choice. One said "you're brave" and I said I'd be braver going to hospital. Most understand when I tell them about the lies obs have told me and that if I choose hospital I choose elective C/S because the obs are more worried about litigation than my choices/concerns.

I've had third trimester fatigue set in big time this week, or maybe it's just been the humidity. For a couple of days all I have wanted to do is sleep or . In fact yesterday I felt so silly crying constantly (for no apparent reason) that I had to laugh at myself and found myself laughing and crying at the same time .

PS I'm not nesting yet, sleep is coming first at the moment. Haven't got all my homebirth equipment. Nursery is half set up. Don't have a car seat yet. Figure won't need one till end Nov at very earliest. Don't know whether or not to pack a hospy bag (might just make sure DH knows where to find everything). Umm, what else do I need to do???.

    I think i've caught up now .

    .
    Oh the joys!!

My nesting bug just kicked in!! After brushing my teeth before bed last night I grabbed an old toothbrush and started cleaning the bathroom windowsills .

Thank you for making me feel better about my lack of organisation/motivation.

scarymary - I might give the tea a miss if it's disgusting - my stomach is so sensitive these days and anything too strong or that has a taste I don't like I feel very ! So if I can avoid it I will As for washing bub's clothes, I did all mine in regular detergent and I did the same with DD's first clothes.

Aya - Ugh don't get me started on Telstra. They once sent us a bill for over $2000 after not having an account with them for over 6 months. Not long after they sent me another bill for $600 after not being with them for over a year - but they put it to a debt collection agency so I'm still dealing with them now trying to get it sorted! I HATE them! Hope you don't have to deal with them for much longer!

Dreambeliever - hope your energy boost sticks around! I'm jealous, lately I've been beached on the couch letting the housework just pile up around me

spicemum - Did you get to the picnic today? Hope it was a good time if you did. The weather held up at least! DD is over her cold now but we couldn't make it anyway, MIL bought a new house recently and just moved in and we went over to visit. I know what you mean about the fatigue I'm not getting through the days lately without a snooze at around 1 or 2.

Big Bird - I'm just about to PM you the link and my IM's details

    Hope everyone is well!

Kiariel. That is awful how you were treated.
I have had some bad experiences with sonographers but nothing like that.

Just popping in to say hi, its been a few days. Been feeling a real hate relationship with food and the weather and don't want to do much at all.

On a lighter note i have started my cloth nappy stash
A study just came out saying that vaginal breech birth is safer than a c/s. I'm sure it was linked on the natural child project facebook page? I tend to agree with "breech- just another variation of normal" and "hands off the breech"
