Question At what age did your child/children start rolling?

What age did your child/children start rolling from front to back or back to front??

My friends baby is 7 months and is not rolling or sitting unaided. She was a little worried at her 6 month check up with the CHN when she couldnt believe he hasnt rolled. He doesnt seem to have any strength in his spine.

I just checked DD baby diary and she rolled at 3 1/2months.

I know that every child is different and delevopment stages differ.

    Should she be worried??

Yep, both kids were 3 1/2 mths although ds is 5 mo and only goes back to front. He started rolling from front to back but hasn't done it since those first four times.

DD randomly rolled from back to front at 11 weeks for about a week. Then not again until about 4 months...

13week old DD can roll from back to side(she uses the weight of her legs to do this), and from tummy to back (using the weight of her head).

    Did the CFHN tell you exercises you can do to help strengthen their musels? I sit dd up on my knee (when burping) insted of holding her over the shoulder or on her tummy etc, to encourage her to use her spine to sit up. I use both hands to support her ofcourse but she still arches her back and gives it a go. I also hold her up under her arms and encourage her to take her own weight on her legs, which she can do now (only for a few seconds though) Lots of tummy time will help too. Someone once told me, and i dont know if its a bit of an old wives tale but ill say anyway;
if you carry them EVERYWHERE with you &pick up their toys and bring them to them, then they tend to start crawling/walking later because they dont have any need to learn to move by themselves.
Sometimes i put DDs toys JUST out of her reach on her play mat to encourage her to streach/roll towards what she wants to play with
Walk a mile in someones' shoes before you judge them,
that way, when you do judge them,
you are a mile away.. and you have their shoes.

DD rolled front-back between 2-3months (im feeding and cant check her book) sits briefly at 15-16 weeks.
in some cultures babies are never put down, and don't crawl,(as animals use all fours, not people) but walk fine.

DD1 rolled both ways at about 12months just after she learnt to crawl. DD2 rolled each way a couple of times at about 5 months but has never done it again. She is now 8 months and not looking even close to crawling so I guess she will take after her sister. Both were able to sit without support at 5 months.

DD rolled both ways at 12wks.

DS1 didn't roll at all until after he could walk which was at 12 months.

DS2 is 7 months and I have seen him roll tummy to back a lot but only twice from back to tummy.

Rolling isn't really that big of a deal, it doesn't mean much when it comes to the 'milestones' thing

DD1 could roll tummy to back at 12 weeks, but couldn't roll back to tummy until she was 9 months. She started to sit unaided at around 9 months too.

DD2 could roll both ways by 4 months and was sitting by 7 months.
