Default Torticollis - help please! thanks!

Hi Anyone had experience with congenital torticollis? DS was born on 1st July and is such a cute, healthy baby except that I noticed that his head is always tilted to right, I was assured by the pediatrician that he is ok before I was discharged from the hospital, later I checked online and found the term of Torticollis and asked the visiting nurse, she advised me that I can give DS tummy time,I did that but saw very little improvement. I bought DS to the same pediatrician for the 6 weeks check and he assured me again that by three months he will be fine but I am not convinced. Anyone knows a good physiotherapist or a good pediatrician that I can go to? I am living in the St George area, big big thanks!

I don't really know what torticollis is but when my DS2 was born he only looked one way. I took him to see a chiropractor and with some very gentle manipulation, she managed to free it up.

See a Chiropractor. My DD1 had it so bad that it started affecting the shape of her head. After a few visits to a chiro her neck muscles loosened up a bit and her head shape started improving. Don't waste your time with physios, chiro is definately the way to go

My DD has a preference to one side, but it is not bad and she has movement in both sides. My naturopath recommended an osteopath.

My DS had a bad case of it and after seeing his paediatrician had to see a physio for months and he had to have a helmet as it had affected his head shape. It took quite a lot of physio exercises daily to eventually loosen the neck muscles. Sorry I can't recommend anyone to you as I am in QLD, but I would probably be seeing a different paed to help you as time can be a big factor.

Chiro can fix the problem within weeks, a physio can fix it over a number of months. Just something to think about

DD was born with a positional head turn to the right. I took her to an osteo from 3 weeks old for several sessions and she wanted me to get an opinion from our paed as to whether she had torticollis or not. I was assured by my paed that she was completely fine, no torticollis, and would grow out of the head tilt with lots of tummy time etc. Can't remember how long it took, but wasn't that long, just happened naturally with time as she got stronger.

Our DD had this to the right side of her head and her paed told us to lay her on the opposite(Left) side to feed and sleep for about 6 weeks i think and that did the trick. He would see us every 4 weeks for other reasons so he just checked it then. I think if it is picked up early it is pretty easy to fix.

    Good luck

my son had this as well, always looking to the right, i took him to an osteo and he had 5 treatments and is sorted. his ear had even started to skew one was from having his head turned all the time, it has realigned itself now.
