hi guys, this is an old thread but I wanted to share a new book I've been reading called "women food and god" by Geneen Roth. She is a psychiatrist as well as a specialist in compulsive eating. It is an amazing book, very confronting. I am only about 1/2 way through but it is really getting me to think and if you are interested in a new way of looking at your eating issues I suggest you have a read of it. to all.

    Hi ladies,

I don't normally respond to forums.(Only done it twice actually!) But when I saw this thread I had to.

I suffered from bulimia and anorexia for several years and I am glad to say that YES, I do have a healthy relationship with food.

I enjoy eating everything and have totally changed how I see food.
For example, I now have full cream milk in the fridge, as my little boy has to have full cream not skim. I have it on my cereal and in my coffee and can honestly say that I feel not guilt or voices yelling at me.

This alone is a huge change for me, I wouldn't touch it (even with my finger) and the thought of it would make me nauseous, ready to puke in a second!

The big change for me happened when I read a book called "You are not what you weigh" by Lisa Bevere. I am a christian and the truth Lisa spoke about in her book radically changed me. I now feel so free and content with myself, my life and body.

The media and pressure we put on our selves makes reaching "perfection" impossible. No matter how hard I tried before, I was never happy.
I know that being pregnant and then the pressure of being the "perfect" mum can add more strain on your thoughts and relationship with food.

It wasn't an instant change for me, but within a few weeks of reading (and believing) Lisa's book, my thoughts were healthier and my diet was balanced. I threw out all my diet/exercise magazines and focused on what was important. I stopped trying to control everything around me. Once I gave it all to God, I relaxed, I felt so much peace!

I want to encourage you, from someone who has been there, you CAN be happy and you CAN enjoy food again

If you'd like to hear more, I'd love to share with you.

    Love Sara xx
