    Default Huge bleed

Hi, well yesterday I had a very stressful day I am 12 weeks pregnant and I went out to lunch with my nan I was feeling good.

So their I was sat at at the table eating lunch when I felt a huge gush almost like I had wet myself I but my hands on my lap to realize their was blood all down my pants and on my hands.

We rushed to the ED and after laying in a hospital bed for 8 hours feeling very confused that their was no cramps no clots and the blood was watery but to much blood that I must have lost my baby.

We finally got a ultrasound and their was bubs kicking around happy and healthy as can be, their was a little more blood sitting near my placent, the doctor told me the blood had come from the placenta but I'm so confused as to why? Their was so much of it

has anyone experienced this? I have to keep a eye on it but everything should be fine.

    Thanks for reading

Sometimes where the placenta attaches there can be a pool of blood or a clot sitting behind it, and as the uterus starts to grow bigger this pool of blood can be dislodged and cause a big bleed like that.

Google "Subchorionic Hematoma", as this might be what it was.

(Placenta praevia doesn't usually cause bleeding until after 26 weeks if it's going to, although it's still possible. )

what a horrible experience for you, glad bub is OK though.

I had a similar thing happen at 14 weeks with DS2, everything had been fine and then woke up during the night like I had wet myself but there was blood everywhere.

After anight in emergency a scan the next day revealed that the placenta had broken away slightly.

I wasn't given much more explanation that that.

I continued to have a light period like loss for the next 6 weeks. So if it is the same thing with you, don't be surprised if it continues. definitely get ti checked again if it is really heavy or concerning.

DS2 arrived spontaneously at 37 weeks.

I hope all goes well for you.

With my first 2 I had a big bleed around 11 weeks, but no cramping, and the ultrasounds showed a happy baby. With my twins the same happened at 14 weeks. No explanations were given with the first 2 but with the twins I was told that sometimes the babies can kick at the placenta and cause the haematoma the girls were talking about. To be on the safe side, i took it easy after my bleeds and stopped intercourse til all had settled down. Hopefully your outcome will be as good as mine, although its bloody scary when it happens.

    Oh my god.
I'm actually laying here on bedrest because the same thing has happened to me. Friday night I woke to lots of blood and then lost a clot the size of a golf ball. Sorry if that's tmi. My hubby took me straight to hospital where they found my hcg levels had risen since Wednesday (had been tested for something else and they tested then too) but were more concerned with me than my baby. The bleeding slowed when I was there and they sent me home on bedrest til Monday when I can make an appoint for the baby.
I am 12 weeks today, it's supposed to be a happy time. Especially since we had a scan last week and saw a perfectly normal baby.
My fingers and toes and everything else are crossed for you as well as me. Good luck Xxxx

Hi Lachlancharli, was yours a subchorionic hemorrahage too? The ob from the hospital called me then to explain it better too me and to let me know I need to rest and the bleed needs to be moniterd as if it gets bad it could cause a m/c

It is hard not to stress with my first he was born at 32 weeks from a fetal meternal hemorrahage I wonder if it's related?

Atleast I saw bubs was happy and healthy and I haven't had any bleeding since yesterday when it happend.

Iet me know how you go
