Unhappy Help with persistent nappy rash !

I am totally gobsmacked at how fantastic bubhub & you all are in easing this new mums paranoia & answering all my questions..
    Muchas Gracias XXX

Anyway the point is this pesky rash thats been on the poor little month old's bot bot for over a fortnight now .... I just cant shift it .... tried all the cream recommendations .... paw paw.....sudo..... zinc castor oil....bepanthen ....to no avail!!!

The problem area is only around the anus & is small red lumps & looks quite inflamed..... hasn't spead over the couple of weeks .... but doesn't seem to improve either????

I am worried it might be thrush/candida as the creams haven't got rid of it in the 4 to 5 days as they say they should......

What do you all think ????

Thanks for your wisened info .....

If you have any irritated broken skin around there it very quickly picks up fungal infections. Just rub on a tiny bit of Canestan or similar, and it should clear up quickly.

I bought an antifungal nappy rash cream and it worked a treat. Also used curash powder to make sure she was completely dry after each nappy change

For a bub that young I'd definitely run it by your GP first. Good luck.

Daktozin, its a thick zinc based anti fungal. Sounds like its a fungal infection now. Its about $18 for a big tube and worth every cent

Desitin from the chemist will get rid of nappy rash. Its zinc based but much stronger than sudocream. My son's doc recommended it.

with trying the Daktozin, (make sure it's the 'nappy rash' Daktozin as there's 2 types). It's pricey, but it's the only 'over the counter' cream that has worked a treat on my dd's rash once it's become fungal (as I think is the case with your little one).

Failing that, you could go a bit stronger and use a 1% strength hydrocortisone cream, but you must use that sparingly and only on the affected areas.

Good luck, I hope it clears up soon for your little one.

I use Resolve Plus when any of my boys have ended up with a fungal rash (the doctor put me onto it) and it has cleared it within 2 nappy changes. It is a 1% hydrocortisone so like the PP said, use sparingly.

Big thumbs up for the Daktozin (or similar zinc cream based anti fungal cream).
DD had a persistent rash a while ago and after a couple of goes at using it for a week and it still reoccurring I used it for 3 weeks straight and it did the job. I also went anti-fungal crazy and used Canestan rinse in her nappy wash and even her clothes for a week. Plus anything else that her bare botty would touch (bunny rug for nappy free time, change table cover etc). Havent seen it again since!

Canestan worked for us after months of on again off again nappy rash.
I know this makes no sense but we used the generic version for months and it didn't fix it, the actual canes tan worked really fast.
