    Hi everyone
thought i would drop by and say hi to you all.
I have just started acupuncture to go along with our first cycle of ICSI.

My acupuncturist puts them in slightly different places
definitely the foot and hand ones and 4 in the tummy, but also above the knee and below the knee. She has also down the one in the top of the head - she says this one is to 'calm the spirit' and clear your mind from stress.
I reckon this one works really well for me, i feel so carefree after.

I have a cousin who is studying acupuncture and chinese medicine and from previous conversations with her, the idea behind the foot and hand is the opening and closing of the "chi" energy that runs through our body.
Also the pyramid thing with incense like stuff is called moxibustion. The stick is called a moxa stick. These are fabulous for all sorts of things, main idea is creating warmth and heat. I use these at home all the time when i have a sore neck (getting hubby to light the stick and wave it over my neck), pain is gone within about an hour.
She has advised me to be waving over my stomach every night for the 1 week before and 1 week after ovulation.

Am hoping that the continued acupuncture throughout our cycle will keep me sane and relatively stressfreee.

Look forward to hearing other peoples stories.
    Have a great weekend

Hi girls i hope you don't mind me popping in to say hello. I am thinking of trying the TCM again. I am in Sydney, Eternaloptimistic, can I ask you whereabout is your acupuncturist? I have done with a lady at a clinic in Maroubra next to IVF Australia last year. As I don't live and work in that area, so I can only go during the weekend.I didn't quite feel much different from the sessions with her, so I would like to try someone new this time.

    Thanks!

Thought I might add my thoughts for you all.
I finally found an accupuncturist on my last 2 cycles who specialises in infertility, she was amazing & I think definately helped in getting us our beautiful son.
I had used 2 different accupuncturists prior to her who didn't really know a lot about the IVF process. I would make sure when you find one that they understand the process & work with it, not just taking your money IYKWIM.
I also used a great TCM guy.

Goodluck & hope you all reach your dream soon.

    My acupuncturist puts in the following needles;

1 in each foot just just inwards of the big toe
1 in each foot, just about the ankle
1 in each leg, just below the knee on the outside
4 in abdomen, 1 above, below, left and right of belly button
    1 between my eyebrow
1 in centre of the head (in hair) after anxiety attacks.

Does this sound familiar to any one? I have never had any put in my hand and I am a little concerned that my guy doesnt know what he is doing as everyone elses sounds similar.
I regularly fall asleep during mine. Does this happen with anyone else?

    Hi Girls!

I hope you don't mind me joining in! I had my first ever accupuncture appointment today and I am hooked!

I had a 45 minute consultation with the Dr and she went through EVERYTHING and was extremely thorough! She brought up some very good questions and is fairly positive that my reason for not having a sticky bub yet is due to fluid / damp in the uterus / tubes.

    TMI **
She basically asked my EWCM and I gave her that information, basically thick and gooey, then I went on to say that I also get it during AF. That paired with the bad sweating I get at certain times of the month is what makes her think that I have a problem there ...

When it came time to put the needles in (they do not hurt for first timers) as she put in certain places I had this warming feeling all over my body and broke out in sweats! Then when she pushed them in further, my body cooled and I was very cold!

She was so accurate with everything that she said, such as when she was putting the needle in my inner thigh I had a tingling feeling from my toes to my uterus area.\

Basically she is wanting to work on blood flow to the uterus area, she feels that doing this will balance my body and really help with a sticky bub!

I am not sure where exactly she put the needles as I was so relaxed, though she was talking, I was so relaxed I was almost asleep

I know she put the following

    - just above my knees
    - inside of my calf below my knees
    - ankles
    - above my food
    - inner elbows

After they all went in, I felt my body tingle instantly, I felt so relaxed it was just beautiful!

To help me 'catch up' and prepare my body for this cycle, I am going 2 times a week then on the day of ET I am going before and after ET... from there I guess I will see how we go and hopefully I can continue at least weekly

Acupuncture was definitely a positive experience and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone doing IVF! I wish I had started earlier!

The best news of all though is that DH bisopsy got 4 vials retrieved, it was such a releif, he has Azoospermia and has ZERO sperm in his ejaculate becaause he was born with out the vas deferes due to being a carried of CF.
Hi Eternal- I also read the Ruth Sharkey books back when we signed on with them. Far out, they were your neighbours? What a small world! Congrats on the great egg numbers, DH having loads of swimmers and the awesome fert rate! When dealing with MFI it is such a relief to know that some have fertilised. Hope your embies are dividing beautifully and give you a sticky bub plus lots of frosties.

Hi to everyone else . Good to see others joining in and sharing their positive acu stories.

    Hi Ladies,

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend

K2Chat: The clinic i use is http://www.acupunctureivf.com.au/ and the lady i go to is Rochelle, they are all really good there and i find them really informative about why they do the things they do.

TNTBub: You will have to let us know how you went with your first acupunture session

Lindylou78: Thanks darl, our biggest hurdle this whole process has been wether he had ANY swimmers at all down there. I was sooo over the moon when he came out of his biopsy and told me he had 4 vials. He was wrapped as well, he was sooo nervouse going in on Friday, he was biting his nails and end up biting them so much they were bleeding and i NEVER see him get rattled over anything.

GreenApple: My acupunture lady told me the exact same thing about having a damp uterouse, i too get lots of EWCM in my cycles and after the first 3 sessions i noticed it was totally fixed and i felt soo much better. I am hooked as well

MrsPerfetto: I think depending on what stage of your cycle/journey your up to it will be slightly different areas. I had all the ones you mentioned when i was stimming and then only when i had EPU or really bad side affects from the injectons were they slightly different places. I alsways ask for one between my eyebrows as this is a stress release one and i love it.

Wishfulmummy: I am normally a very stressed person and get anxiouse very easily and for the last 6 weeks i have noticed a remarkable change in my stress levels, i definitly think it will hel you on that level

I had acu on Saturday after my EPU on Friday and it was so relaxing. She also gave me these two little "seeds" to put in my ears of a night when i sleep, they are on a bandaid that just sticks to the top of your ear and apparently will help with stress release. Not too sure how they will go but am willing to try anything to get me my

EO - I am so grateful to hear that you had the same thing said! I chose to go through an acupuncturist close to my home, although she doesn't specialize in IVF acupuncture, I thought I would give it a go with her and I was very satisfied with my results so far! I am going 2 times weekly, thankfully my FET was pushed back another week and a bit, so therefore I am able to buy time for another 3 appointments until the FET, then on the day before and after! I never knew I would do acupuncture but I am definitely hooked

I was surprised to know that acupuncture in general is used a lot in chinese medicine for infertility, I wish I had started this a long time ago, I feel that it could of assisted with a natural BFP, but I guess now is a better time to start then ever before!

I can't wait until wednesday for my next appointment, I hope that my pulse is a little more grounded, I am also going to investigate more into the anxiety factors! I am so happy I found this! For the first time EVER I felt that someone was interested with what was wrong with my cycle, as I said to the lady many times, the dr's only seem to care about scans and blood tests, not the fact that I clot or have certain symptoms that may not show up on either of those scans!

I would thoroughly recommend acupuncture to anyone doing IVF, I really wished I had found this earlier!

not alot of time Im using public internet.

I can exactly remember where they put them all I was so blissed out afterwards.

one in my left and right wrist.

    one in my sternum.

    four in my belly

one just below my right and left knee.

one in right and left ankle

one in right and left foot.

And one ouchy one in my left foot near the big toe. Its to help digestion. And it did work I felt alot of gurgling, accupuncturist asked if I got gurgling. I made me feel the best I have ever felt in my tummy/digestion in like forever.

I think that was it. I was just blissful afterwards. It was nice.

Just a question how much is your accupuncturist charging?

    Mine is $90 a session.
