Hi Aurora- What a coincidence that all 3 of us are doing IVF/ICSI due to sperm issues! If your DH's next semen analysis shows any improvement due to the acupuncture, I'd love to hear about it. My DH has the trifecta- low count, low morph and low motility. Plus high FSH levels to top it off. We did get a massive improvement after 6m with no alcohol, but nowhere near enough to get pg naturally.

Hi EternalOptimist- OMG 35 follies! Glad the acu has relieved the symptoms for you and hope it helps keep OHSS at bay. I'll keep my fingers crossed your cycle isn't cancelled .

Hi Eternal Hi Lindy LouHi anyone else reading.

Eternal Accu went ok yesterday it actually hurt a bit this time. Hey and I bled in a few spots he must have pricked me to hard. haha
Eternal so are you in tommorow? (hospital I mean)

Lindy I know how bizzare all our DH's have the LS. Well meant to be for us to share our stories (am so glad I met you guys)

Hey girls Im in Perth by the way. Last night I found the BEST fertility natropath (by accident) - long story ....and anyway she specialises in assisting with fertility and works along side IVF medication. She was telling me that if your immune system and gut is not right your body will find it hard to hold an embryo because its not happy. Im starting a plan with her on Friday. She says feeling good before falling pregnant and during is so important and the drugs really dont help so she will help keep me grounded. Anyway I could go on forever with all the stuff they do. Have you guys looked into anything else aswell as the accupuncture. Im trying everything. Well anything to feel good during this process anyway. Look into it.

    Have a gorgeous day girls

    Hi Eternal and girls

I just wanted to pop in to tell you my positive acu story.......I now have a gorgeous 4 month old baby boy....

We tried for 4 yrs to have him and for the last yr i was doing acu. I went every week for months before my cycle and i had them in the very same spots as you Eternal plus some in the top of my head, i also had a session the day before EPU then straight after my ET.......I did two cycles with acu and on our last one we got our very long awaited for BFP. So i totally believe in acu, i found it also helped the quality of my eggs as they aren't very good, i never had any to freeze from any of the 8 cycles i did.

I just wanted to wish you all the very best of luck in your journey's and hoping that they are very short one's.

Acupuncture is a wonderful thing when doing an IVF cycle.

    Hi ladies

Ive been having acu weekly for 5-6 weeks now with a nice lady who specialises in acu for ivf, womens problems etc and thought id pitch in with my 'needle points' as ive been thinking about posting something similar about them for a few days now as im interested in what others have and where. I have:

One in each of my wrists (below the veiny bit)
    One in each ankle
At the top of my feet (ive googled this and its for all my food intolerances I think)
    4 in my lower tummy
and occasionally one in each of my temples on my head, but thats for anxiety.

She mentioned about me going on the herbs alongside the acu, but im not sure about them...do any of you guys take the herbs? Its an extra $55 a week on top of my weekly acu cost and she says I would have to take them 3 times a day like a cup of tea..im really funny about tea (only like proper English tea) so not sure I could manage it..

    Good luck ladies xxx

    Hello again

I came across this bit of info recently from an acupuncture fertility website about using tampons...im not too keen on using pads at all but I think this kind of makes sense so have been trying it this month. Hopefully it will be a bit of useful information for everyone!

A tampon is like a cork to the uterus. Often the uterus (which desires to clear the old blood to make way for the new) will contract when corked, which is why Day 1 cramps are common with tampon use. If the cervix is blocked with a tampon, there can be a back flow of blood out through the fallopian tubes to the pelvic cavity. This back flow of blood is called retrograde flow and is one of the theories for the cause of endometriosis (the growth of endometrial tissue outside of the uterus.)

Heres the website link which is actually quite useful. My acupuncturist has got me to write down everything about my period this month as she has been working to
'clear out' my womb ready for my FET, the link gives interesting info about your period and what it means if you have clots, and what colour etc etc TMI! But interesting all the same

    Hi girls.
Im an acupuncture fan too, having found it helped my cycle a lot while I was TTC naturally and also helped ground me during an IVF cycle. Yet to get my BFP though. I think part of the problem is that my acu is very busy and hard to get into see...

A good friend of mine is an acupuncturist, and I asked her abt the different points etc. Apparently they differ depending on what's going on in your pulse, tongue etc, as well as what phase of the cycle. So as long as your therapist is experienced with infertility, I really wouldnt worry if you are not getting as many (or different) needles as other ppl...

Hi Aurora- When my DH and I were first diagnosed with infertility and advised to go down the ICSI route, we decided we'd do all we could to improve our chances naturally then come back to ICSI later. We were seeing a naturopath through a clinic at the Gold Coast, they're called Sharkeys and they're well known for specialising in infertility. We were on their herbs for about a year, plus other supplements they advised us to take. Several good things came of that, one being that my short luteal phase (10 days) was fixed. My DH used to get alot of foods repeating on him (especially garlic), he would be burping frequently and tasting the garlic for days after eating it. Sharkeys indicated this was a sign of bad gut health and put him on a probiotic. Now he can eat as much garlic as he likes and no probs at all! If the time comes to do another stim cycle, both of us will be going back on Sharkey's program for a few months first.

Amum21- thanks for sharing you success story. Congrats on your little boy!

Anemone- thanks for the info on the pressure points. I was a bit worried that I wasn't getting as many as others, so that was reassuring to hear! I hope you get your sticky BFP soon.

Lindsayloo- your name is so similar to mine! I'm not taking any herbs from my chinese Dr, but as I mentioned above, I will go back to Sharkeys for herbs if I need to do another full cycle. About the tampon thing- I was given the same information by Sharkeys, but didn't think much of it. If I did everything they told me, I'd have to go live in an Amish commune . Now I'm at the point where I'll do anything, so I'll put up with pads if AF is nasty enough to show up again! I'll be sure to check out the link you posted, thanks!

Hi EternalOptimist- is your EPU today? If so, then best of luck for lots of mature eggs and a great fert rate

Sorry for the long post everyone, I'll stop now!

Hi Lindsaylou- That is really interesting to read. I am quite the opposite though. Since I've always had horrid periods, I've never used tampons, and I ended up with Endo. Joy!
Although the explanation makes sense to me. I think it would explain a lot of problems women have.

AuroraK - I am from Perth also. I am going to Fertility North and am in on Monday for EPU.

AFM - A colleague of my husband recommended to him today to visit an accupuncturist in East Fremantle, who treated her when she was undergoing IVF. 6 unsuccessful IVF attempts, and then successful with first ACU.
I phoned, and am booked in tomorrow (Saturday) morning!!! A bit nervous and a bit excited at the same time.
Fingers (and everything else) crossed. xxx

    Hi ladies,

AuroraK: So glad i met you ladies as well, i always find its such a releif to talk to someone who is going through the same stuff as me, it def makes me feel less alone. Your info is awesome, i mentioned this to my lady and she told me the exact same I was given some info from a friend who is a naturapath just before i started IVF about foods and different affects they have on the body etc, i will find it and send it though to you, i have been following it and think that along with acupunture has made this whole process sooo much easier on my mind and body.

Rinche: Enjoy acu today - you will love it. I look forward to every session i have

Lindylou: I have heard so many positive stories about Sharkeys, when i was growing up they were actually our next door neighbours and i thought she was the most wonderful person. I have read all her books when we were TTC naturally.

Lindsayloo: I don't take any herbs at all, our FS made us sign a form at the beginning of our IVF journey to say we wouldn't use them as there hasn't been enough research done to determine the effects of eastern/western medicine combinations. Our FS is a big believer of acupunture though so i have been going religously every week for the past 6 weeks.

Amum21: thakns for your story, i love reading positive stories like yours

Well a bit of an update for me, i had my EPU yesterday and got 12 eggs, 10 were mature and then got the call this morning from FN that 8 had fertilised (ICSI). The best news of all though is that DH bisopsy got 4 vials retrieved, it was such a releif, he has Azoospermia and has ZERO sperm in his ejaculate becaause he was born with out the vas deferes due to being a carried of CF. I am heading in to have acupunture again today to make sure my cervix is all settled after yesterday. I am yet to get my BFP but i am a firm beleiver that acupunutre has definitely helped me so far. I have felt fantastic this entire cycle, i had one really bad day when i got very sick for the day but i think this was becasue i had 35 follies, i had acupunture that day and then have felt 10000% ever since. My EPU yesterday was awesome, i was expecting it to be very painful and take all weekend to recover.

Sorry for the long post ladies, i am feeling extra happy today (no its not from the sedative i had yesterday )
