Default To give water or not to give water?

My bubs is 11 weeks and is on formula.
I'm wondering whether I should be giving a little bit of water to him everyday? He seems to enjoy water I have been offering him about 20ml a day and he (most of the time) drinks it.
We have the heaters on and aircon and it gets very dry in the house sometimes I get up really thirsty so I'm thinking he must also want a drink.
But them some say water is a no no why?
Should I be giving him 20ml a day?

i say yes 2. my ds was formula fed and i offered water to him as well - he was born on xmas eve though so very very hot so i thought he needed it and then because he was use to it continued and well now he is 7 months and always wants his sippy cup. Sometimes when he was younger and he was unsettled and not feeding time (i didnt like to feed less than the 4 hours unless had to because it was formula) i would try him on a bottle of water which worked well for us.

from what ii understand they say no water is necessary when breastfeeding because your body automatically adjusts the amount of water in the milk to accomodate how much the baby needs... formula isnt that magic so i didnt see a problem with it.

And now he loves his water, it settles him if he is cranky for no reason and really dont see a need to add cordial or juice or anything as he seems so happy with the water. No idea if thats because i started him young or not.... Just my opinon

just dont give the water to close to feeds or he will not want the feed.

DS was born mid summer and even when exclusively BF, I still gave him 20ml of cool boiled water. If I didn't do this, he would've been hanging on my breast every half hour as he was so hot and thirsty. The CHN and his paed told me it was fine to give him some water after 8 weeks. Anywhere between 10 and 50ml in 24 hours.

I was having the same issues with my DS, some were telling me that water not needed as water was in formula therefore meeting their needs unless it was really hot. I often gave DS water only if he was unsettled or if it was really hot, otherwise the water in the formula should be enough. And small amounts at a time (so not 20ml in one go, but spread it out) so it doesn't fill his tummy before a feed.
