Default HELP.....need some tips & advice!!

We've just moved into a new house and my 1 yr old has been having trouble going to sleep at night. He'll scream the house down when i put him in his cot at bed time, sometimes crying for up to an hour. Once he finally gets to sleep he sleeps the whole night without any drama. It's just getting him off to sleep that is the problem. During the day when he has his nap he's fine getting to sleep. It's only at night that we have issues. At our old house he didnt have this problem.
Ive tried different things: ive put a night light in his room (as it does get quite dark in there, i thought that may be the problem) it didn't work. Ive tried leaving the hallway light on and leaving his bedroom door ajar, this didn't work either. Ive tried sleep music, patting him, sitting in the room with him. But nothing is working!!!
Does anyone have any tips or advice on how i can resolve this problem??

I think I'd just put him in your room until he's used to the house. I even did that with my 3 yo when I moved, I'd rather just have him in my room than have him scared in a new house in a room on his own.

It's hard when moving, it takes my boy a good few weeks to get used to it. Didn't help last time we moved that we had no power for 2 days

Is it quite cold in his room?
Has he got a comfort toy?
Maybe you could put some sheets on his cot that you have slept with first so that it has your smell on it.

How old exactly is he? If he is closer to 2, can you get him involved in decorating his room a little so that he feels some ownership of it?
