    Default How much Formula?

Does anyone know the formula for working out how much formula a baby should be drinking? Isn't there some sort of way of working it out due to body weight or age? The tin jumps from 60ml to 120ml at two weeks which is madness.. What baby would double just because they're suddenly two weeks old? I ff ds1 but can't remember!

150ml per kilo of body weight divided by the amount of bottles per day. My DD2 is 2 weeks and is having 80mls per feed.

we just went off the back of the tin and started at the minimum and slowly increased till DD was happy.

She was a 10 pounder born so she straight away drank more.

Thanks Memie. So if ds is 4kg it's 600ml over a 24hr period? I think he drinks more than that.. How often does your daughter have a bottle? We've only just switched over to ff so I'm working on getting ds into a little more of a routine that just constantly feeding (because he was never getting enough bf).

Alternatemum, ds was 9lbs born, so he's a hungry bubba too!!

They do jump pretty quickly in those first few weeks as they sort themselves out. My 2 were 2.4 and 2.2kg and were drinking 10-20ml per feed for the first week and by the 2nd week had doubled it to 40-50ml.

The tin is just a guide, if the baby is draining the bottle, then its time to offer a little bit more.
