    Default Knox Private

Has anyone been to Knox Private and if so what was yor experience and who was your OB- we had DD at Jesse Mac and were horrified at being placed in a 4 bed room- out of 6 c sections that day 5 of the women spent 4 nights in a 4 bed room (i got moved that night as i was staff at the hospital), the reason we went private was choice of OB and the option of having DH stay with me- this was not possible at Jesse Mac which we didn't find out how common and how long the average person shared a room. Whilst the safety of both myself and any future bubs is a priority I didn't feel spending over 7k on OB fees etc was worth it to potentially spend that long in what was a public room. Nor to deliver in the same delivery suites as the public hospital which were very old and dilapidated- when i was first taken into delivery suites they were full so for 4 hours i was in a shared delivery suite with another lady which didn't have enough rom to swing a cat let alone walk around etc.
Sorry for the whinge so looking for somewhere else next time but not in the CBD.

what suburb are you in??? i have had my two at south eastern private and going for my third there- nice quiet hospital-but has level 2 nursery.. very private maternity section...big rooms hubby can stay- food pretty good too- i think i put on weight during my stay
but also have heard good things about knox...

i was put off by jessie mac due to small rooms very busy and loud ward and shared facilties with monash public... although if i had a high risk pregnancy i wouldnt hesitate going there- but it defiantly would have sucked being in a 4 bed ward my sil had her bubs there at the public and was in a shared ward it looked horrible but i dont like to share bathrooms

Who was your OB at South Eastern- was classed as High Risk for last Pregnancy due to my medical history but had no problems at all so have been told i dont need to go High Risk again unless something changes. I went private to avoid sharing a bathroom (was one of the reasons)- particuarly post baby.

with my first i had colin orchard- but he has retired..
second time and this baby going with peter yong- who is lovely very good and very thorough but extremely good and following what you want- was happy to let me go 'overdue' with no pressure for induction and then i had an extremely natural unrushed birth- couldnt have asked for anything better and was so proud what my body could do...

other obs at south easter that i have heard good things about are rudy lopes, dr jaques lam and dr vicherranal???(not sure how you spell it but he is very expensive but meant to be good)

not sure what area you are in- i have also heard great things about waverley private and mitchem private.

good luck with your hunt for a hospital -

I had my bubs at Mitcham and it was great. It has a level 2 nursery and the delivery suites were lovely. Nearly all the rooms are single rooms on the ward, but a few are double rooms - they are usually occupied by the women who haven't had babies yet. My SIL was in a shared room but only for a night or so til she got her own room. I was in my own room the whole time.

I had my gallbladder out at Knox and was in the maternity ward post-op (they put elective surgery women in there sometimes) and I think I was in the only 4 bed ward. There were no babies in that room - we were all in there after surgery. I actually enjoyed the shared room as I would have been bored on my own ... but I wouldn't want to share when I had a baby with me! I think that's it's pretty unlikely you'd need to share at Knox.

My Obstetrician was Ken Leong, he delivers at Knox & Mitcham.
