My DD is 11.5months still cat naps. For the last month every now and then she will actually sleep for an hour and a half!! Which is crazy for us.

Yes, I promise they do!!! Some kids never become GREAT sleepers, but my DD1 went from being a horrendous catnapper during the day (never more than 40 minutes) to 2 x 2 hr naps - and then 12 hours at night - from about 12 months onwards.

The end of catnapping for us coincided with me introducing the routines from the Gina Ford book (The New Contented Little Baby Book) around 7 months of age. Once we had broken the 40 minute barrier (by resettling and shushing and a dark room etc) she extended bit by bit until 2 hour sleeps were the norm. I'm not sure if routine was a part of ending catnapping specifically, but I do know my DD1 in particular was (and is!) very reassured by routine in her life.

Or perhaps its simply something she would have grown out of anyway.

Hope your boy gets the message soonish!

She would sleep a total of 14 hours overnight though and was happy and settled through the day and was quite good company during her awake times and I never had to be home for nap times or anything so it worked out well for us. All these people couldn't go for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, etc due to nap times while I could go anywhere at any time with a happy baby. We could go on holidays and go camping and all sorts of things and had no problems while those friends of mine who followed books and implemented forced routines couldn't go anywhere at certain times of the day and when they were away from home on holidays it was a nightmare.

Oh mummabear ,I may be eating these words but I wish he would stop having day naps , the amount of time it take me to actually put him to sleep for the whole 20-30 minute constant napping just makes it not worthwhile !!

That said I am not complaining , was just curious if some kids just DONT, as I have never done anything whatsoever to try and get him to stop I have just let him have hes way and am hoping in hes own time he will begin having longer naps. If he doesnt he doesnt , worse things he could be doing as overall he is a little pleasure !

Oh well that's okay then!!! Yeah it's hard with DD having "set" times she wants to sleep. I always feel like our days get wasted
