Exclamation Is anyone else scared re election?

I mean truly scared about the upcoming election?

I am honestly so scared of what will happen if Tony Abbott is our next Prime Minister. Julia Gillard isn't my favourite person in the world but sheesh, she doesn't frighten the crap out of me at least.

Tony Abbott is a man who is constantly upsetting women with his flippant comments, insulted terminally ill asbestos sufferer Bernie Banton, made it difficult for women to have rights to RU486, likened having a difficult boss to having a bad husband or father , and is openly opinionated about "tweaking" laws re workers rights, he is openly anti-union or anything that could be pro-working class, refuses to do anything about the ABCC (Australian Building and Construction Commission) issues and huge problems (Gillard has already said she will scrap it and Greens have been openly opposed to it from the beginning).

I am honestly scared. I do not want such a fool as our PM.

Howard had enough disasters - 457 workers visa and the "skilled workers" program, "children overboard", just to name a couple - what is going to happen to us if Tony Abbott is our PM

I will definitely need some cuddles and stiff drinks and a free ticket to New Zealand because I will honestly want to move overseas, give up my job, give up my house and not see my family if this offensive FOOL is voted in. I won't have much positive to think about the Australian voting public either!!!

The voting public has a right to choose who they feel will benefit them.

I do not like either choice but we have to vote and make a choice and while abbott is bad for families and working class and women him and his party are a great benefit to those who vote him in.

Seriously it is an election and "a lot" people vote for who will do the most for them, it is not selfish it is about doing the best for your own.

I am working class have a family and a woman but it is not my right to judge others because they like the man.

I am scared though as I dislike both parties and HAVE to choose one well mostly I just dislike Pm Gillard

EDIT..change so people do not get offended and attack my mistake

Yes- tbh I never really cared about politics all that much; I have never though either party are great and tend to vote greens with a preference for labour.

But, this election I am CRAPPING MY PANTS - I am soooooo afraid that Australia with vote in the crack pot Abbott and for the first time in my life I would be worried about being impacted directly by the PM personal agenda.

I know we have parliament and the senate to filter him somewhat - but as OP stated his behaviour on RU486 was diplorable and for that reason alone I would never ever vote for him.

I cringe when I hear some my friends who are independant, intelligent women say they will vote for him because they prefer liberals stance of x,y,z.

I'm just sick of being made to feel like I'm ignorant just because I vote liberal. Honestly. The best thing about being Australian is that we can vote for who we want without fear of persecution.

I think voting for what will get more for yourself at the expense of others is actually the definition of selfish.

yes and NOT voting someone because it will be negative against you is selfish too, so really it is the same with either party you go for

ETA I vote for a party so will have usually voted labour but I DISLIKE Gillard and if it were Rudd I would not think twice about it. I am trying to look past her and see the party

And that's your choice and in the past I have always voted for the party; I have voted green, labour and liberal at different times- I really am a swinging voter...

But this election; forget that - even if i vote for a party how can I vote for a party who believe Abbott best represents them? I believe that for all Howards issues, he did represent Liberal. IMO - Abbott respresents himself - full stop.

Scares me too, i don't trust Julia after booting out K Rudd, and Tony Abbott is a total tool. Not much of a choice either way, so i'm going to vote for greens They are the only people i agree with their policies.
