    Default Gall bladder??

    Hi Everyone,

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and for the past 2-3 months I have been having continuous pain just under my right breast and also in the right upper side of my back (just under my shoulder blade). On 2 ocassions It has been so excruciating and I have thrown up. My midwife has booked me in to see a doctor this afternoon but I just wanted to hear from other expectant mothers to see if they have had similar experiences?? My midwife said it could be my gall bladder?

    Thanks for your time

Sounds like it could be. I've had it, but it went away and thankfully it didn't get that bad.
Pregnancy hormones can cause gall stones. I'm not sure if they can or do remove them during pregnancy, they didn't for me, and mine went away not long after I'd given birth, at about 12 weeks after birth.
I know some naturopaths have a tonic that dissolves them, it may be worth looking into. Worked for my DF who used to have horrible gall stone attacks.

I had the same thing! I had 3 (what they call) reflux attacks while pregnant.......... ended up in hospital for the first one and the other two weren't as bad.

Had another two 7 weeks after having DD and went to my GP.... She booked me in for an ultrasound but I had another attack on the weekend..... Long story short, I had it out.....

Hormones can cause gallstones, it is apprently more common then you would think... There is nothing they can really do about it if you do have gallstones, my suggestions, stay away from ALL fatty foods as well as sugars etc....

    Either way, GOODLUCK !

I developed gall stones when I was pregnant with ds and sounds the same as what you've been through it's awful! I had my gallbladder removed after he was born.
Best thing is to try and steer clear of fatty foods. Almost all of my attacks happened after I'd had cheese. If it's "aching" a lot, or if you've had an attack, switch to clear fluids
for a few days and that can help (though you will be hungry!)
I hope it's not too bad for you if it is gallstones. You have my sympathies!!

    Ladies

I am not pregnant at the moment.
But it does seems to me that you have gall stones. I went to my GP last week because i was having so much pain and he sent me to have a scan and it show that i have gallstones and i am waitting to see the specialist to find out when they can take them out...

    Definitely sounds like gall stones.

I had my gall bladder removed a couple of years ago due to gall stones. It is done by laproscopy, though not really pleasant. I recovered better from my c-section than I did having my gall bladder removed because of the gas they pump you full of.

That said, I would have gone through the operation a hundred times over than have to live with the constant attacks I had. I had many a stay in hospital from it.

As PP's have said, avoid fatty foods.

    Good luck!

Thank you all so much for your responses.
Had an appointment yesterday with the doctor and he took some blood to check my liver function then we will go from there. Have another appointment next week to get results.
Otherwise he thinks it could just be muscular pains!
Just so relieved that its not associated with bub and bub is safe and healthy.
    Once again thank you
