Mum2chris, wow yeah we have similar history hehehe...thanks for the information I really appreciate it. Yeah my appt with FS is 3 Jan and I am not sure if he would write a prescription wo having to see me first. He is quite a flexible FS though.....but I am a willing guinea pig...haha..

Your AMH is 6.1 mine iis 6.7. How many eggs did you get with your cycles? What dose of gonal F were you on?

My first cycle I had 225 upped 300 I got 5 eggs. Second cycle I had 450IU got 11 eggs. Third cycle I had 450IU got 11 eggs too. Next cycle I have FS to down dose to 300IU, as my fert rate was much better when my dose was lower.

Does DHEA improve egg quality? Cos i think my problem is quality rather than quantity. I started taking the homepathic DHEA last night. I know the dose is different but I did not know and bought them a few months ago at a health shop. Since the dose is low and i cannot get the script till Jan, I might as well take these first, no harm right?

Crofty, thanks for sharing. Do you think DHEA improved your fert rate? I can surely see your quantity has improved. It's funny that doctors prescribe DHEA based on LOR rather than looking at DHEA or testosterone levels in the blood. I am a bit puzzled.

I see that your DH has low motility. How's his morphology and count? My DH's bad in all of them. We did manage a DS naturally but that was when I was 29. Things have changed over the years for both of us and we havent had success even with 3 rounds of IVF ICSI. Praying that the 4th cycle will give us the success we need.

Hi a my AMH is "very low" according to my FS hence why she put me on DHEA to improve both quality and quantity - in which it helped in both as we for the most eggs 11 and 9 were mature and 7 fertilized - in all my cycles I had: 4-1 fert, 3-3 fert, 4-2 fert, 4-3 fert - none were freeze worthy so we transferred 2 where we could.

DH has both low motility and count and unfortunately no natural miracle for us and we've been together since we were 27!!!! I sometimes wonder if things would be different or easier to fall pregnant now if I just had a baby when I was with my ex (we were together when I was 16 and together for 10 - married for 2!!!) what a waste hey (lol) - im too damn organised and thought too far ahead (ie: need to pay more off the mortgage, save up to have a baby blah blah blah) but no use dwelling in the past

DH 36 (low motility) - Me 36 (low AMH), TTC since 2009
    ICSI - 4 x
    cycle 1 - Nov/Dec 2010, cycle 2 - Feb/Mar 2011, cycle 3 - Apr 2011, cycle 4 - Jul/Aug 2011 cycle 5 - Sept/Oct 2011

Hi Crofty, thanks so much! It would be good if you can get the AMH reading from FS just so that you now what the value is. That of course is my personal opinion cos I want to know everyything so I can compare. I have done my AMH twice just to see if it became worse.

I think with low sperm count etc it is stil possible to gett pregnant. The issue is we are already in our mid-30 and that is bad news and we cant wait anymore to try naturally esp with LOR and possibly poor quality eggs.

I hope we will get our dreams fulfilled as we persevere. ;0

    Hi ladies.
I have been on DHEA for 4 months now and can safely that I am a believer! We had done 2 Antagonist cycles where the first time we only got 7 eggs but only 1 survived and the second cycle we only got 1 egg. Both cycles did result in pregnancies but neither made it.
I had my EPU 2 days ago after Long Down Reg cycle and 6 eggs were collected. Today I had ET and was told 4 were mature - 3 made it be healthy and of these, 2 were implanted. They hope to be able to freeze the remaining 1.
There is no doubt in my mind that DHEA helped us. We also used Luveris which may have also helped.
I hope this help those who, like we were, wonder if this really helps...it DOES!

    Hi Mummyhopes, thanks for sharing!

I used luveris, so ex but it didnt help me with giving us a BFP. Then again we have no idea if it is due to egg or sperm or both's poor quality. Are you doing IVF ICSI due to male factor? It is so hard to find the right way to solve embryo quality issue when we cannot conclude where the problem is in the first place. So trial and error.

You also got a script for you DHEA? I am wondering if I can buy over the US website. How much dose are you on? Hope your remaining embie get to be frozen. Is it a day 3 embie?

    Hi Mom2oneDS

Yes, IVF ICSI for us due to us boh having "issues". Me, low number of eggs and poor quality and DH every problem possible with his sperm. I agree with you about trial and error...we will do anything for another baby and so will just go with FS suggestions.
We have just changed from one clinic to another as we were told by previous FS that we were "not good candidates for IVF". We are not sure why she would say this after both attempts resulting in BFP (although chem preg). She wasn't even interested in trying a different type of cycle...
New FS said he felt Long Down reg better for me with the issues I have...this FS did give us script for DHEA and he even suggested which compound pharmacy to use after he had miracle with other women in similar situations to me. As for Luveris...we were lucky enought that our FS gave this to us for free. I think he felt sorry for us after hearing our story from previous clinic.

Yes, we are hoping the 3rd embie is frozen too. We had day 2 transfer today.

Hope this has been some help to you.

Mummyhopes, that first FS is horrible. You made the right decision to jump ship. You did get pregnant twice and there sure is hope!!!

I read conflicting facts. I have tried two long down reg and though I did get eggs I didnt get BFP. With the antagonist, i responded as well as down reg. And I read that LOR usually do better with antagonist but you mentioned your FS felt long down reg is better for you. Indeed you did better this round.

Was the DHEA from a compounding pharmacist expensive? I found an US site selling 100x25mg for only US$8 for 2 bottles, ridiculously cheap. I am quite sure it is the same thing as that manufacturer is a reputable one.

Mum2OneDS, certainly no regrets in changing FS...the new FS treats me like a human and not just $$$. My DH and I felt she was only after $$$ as patients have to fit her cycles, she doesn't alter things to suit the patient. Whereas this FS has chopped and changed and had me on everything he could.
As for DHEA at the compound pharmacy, it is $68 for 100x25mg caps and I am on x3 per day...they produce it there themselves. Although it is quite expensive, if it work after a few months, it sure beats extra rounds of IVF costs.
