Snoring....aaarrrggghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone elses partner snore?
My DP's snoring is just getting worse and worse.
I keep asking him to go to the dr and get his nose/throat etc checked out and he won't.
Its so bad that often I have to sleep in the spare room (or he does) because its just way too loud.
I mean he snored when I met him - however, it was ok then, I could manage to get to sleep - but now its just sounding unhealthy.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to minimise his snoring or even get rid of it?
He snores regardless of whether he has drunk beer or not and he has tried those nasal strips that open the airways but it doesn't work.
I'm just so sick of it

Me me me me me!!!!

My DH snored, once we were at my Uncle & Auntie's holiday house with friends and my friend got up during the night to get a drink and she was trying to be really quiet because she could hear my DH snoring and thought he must have been sleeping on the couch...he was at the opposite end of the house and...upstairs!!!

He finally went to the hospital for the night where they monitored him sleep (he had been stopping breathing during the night for as long as I've known him), and they found that even though he doesn't have severe sleep apnoea, the use of a CPAP machine could help his breathing and snoring.
$800 later (for the machine) and everything is quiet...all night!!!!!!
It was the best $800 I've ever spent in my life - and he now wakes up more refreshed and in a better mood because he doesn't struggle to breathe all night. I love the sound it makes too - it's not loud at all, sounds a bit like the central heating does - I love it, very soothing!
Does your DP realise that snoring means that part of his throat is relaxing too much during sleep, therefore his heart is working harder, putting him at risk of heart attack? Something like this could just give him the incentive to do something about it.

I'll bet you have bags under your eyes too. In fact I am sure you do because I do. Has he put on weight?

My Dad has sleep apnoea and uses one of those CPAP machine too. It has made in incredible difference to his generally well being, though he has a full face mask for it, so I don't imagine it as a terribly romantic think to be waking up next to Darth Vader every morning. But then who wants to think about "romantic" and "parents" in the same sentence.

My Dad used to have the machine down by the side of his bed, which is also where their dog sleeps. One night Mack let rip the stinkiest f@rt you can imagine... straight into the air intake of his CPAP machine....

Imagine having dog f@rt bein pumped right up your nose

My Dad said he thought he was going to die...

Needless to say, he made a shelf for it the very next day.

Yep I sure do and it puts me in a foul mood too...

He isn't fat and he hasn't put on any weight since I met him (lucky bugger...), - he does smoke and drink if that makes any difference.

Mamaduke - wow, that sounds great, I might do some reading up on that machine.

My DH isn't overweight either (although that is a major cause of snoring/sleep apnoea) - you just wouldn't believe the difference it has made - he could fall asleep at the drop of a hat and was constantly tired before he got the machine - it was getting to the point where I was concerned about him driving home from work (he's a shift worker and drives home in the early hours).

My mum has severe sleep apnoea but is unable to use one of the machines. Because the air increases as she is supposed to be in a deep sleep she ends up feeling like she is suffocating. After a month she gave up! It seems to run in my family though!

I'd be recommending him to go to a sleep clinic and be monitored and see what is happening! Sleep apnoea (if it turns out to be that) can be very dangerous in the long term as it places quite a strain on the heart.

Lol, my DH, i love him dearly, but his snoring drives me insane, he sounds like a freight train, I usually hit him in the back, or wake him up and he most of the time does stop, but there is this really good spray out, called Nasonex. It has worked wonders for my Dh, and now we all get a good night sleep, well apart from DS getting up, Lol. Give it a bash, i reccommend it to anyone and everyone!

I know how you all feel. I start of nudging DH gently to get him to stop and end up thumping him. He finally stops and then just as I'm getting off to sleep again...

. A friend of mine said her DH got one of those dental plates and it worked but it's about $1000

.However I'll be sleeping next to DH for another 50 or so years, so it may be worth it.
