"Birth Skills" by Juju Sundin and Sarah Murdoch is all about natural pain management in labour. It gives you heaps of knowledge about what your body is actually doing during labour and what sorts of things can help you manage the pain. It's really clear and non-judgemental. Well worth a read I think. I'm not necessarily wanting a totally natural, drug-free birth but I would like to avoid being restricted to lying on my back due to an epidural.
Martina - I found that the extra scans were good for us in the beginning but I did feel like we were just living scan to scan in those early days. I think once our 12-week scan was all clear the anxiety started to lift. I think having a doppler would have made me more anxious and paranoid actually!! - especially knowing now that our little one ALWAYS wriggles away or kicks somebody when they try putting any sort of monitor on him!!
Leelalove - I had heaps of period-type pains early on, I think it's just the uterus stretching to accommodate what's about to happen
Super - yay, so exciting to feel your bubs, it only gets better
to everyone else.
