Default HCG levels in very very early pregnancy

    Hi,

I found out at 1.5 weeks after conception that I was pregnant just by chance. The first blood test at 1 1/2 weeks came back at 19 and the second one 2 days later at 21. At 2 1/2 weeks pregnant my results only went up to 27 which is within the 0-50 range for the time of pregnancy.
Question is, given it is so so early is it still a normal range if it hasn't been doubling so early on? or could it be just because we tested so early?

    Hi there,

I think the hcg is meant to double every 2-3 days. I have heard cases where it doesn't quite double, but still rises significantly and the result has been a healthy pg.

Has your gp recommended further testing, scan to rule out ectopic pg, etc?

It should double every 1-2 days, but there have been cases of women who have low hCG levels, and whose levels don't double until a few weeks into pregnancy.

    Good luck
