Default Screaming in pain while pooing

As it is hard to get time free to ask this, illhave to be short.

10 week old DS is screaming in pain while he tries to poo. He grunts and is obviously pushing hard, his face goes bright red. He is still pooing at least 1 full nappy in 24hrs. But it is very runny - i mean very.

Its been going on for at least 2-3 weeks... around when we started him on 1 feed a day of s26 ar for his reflux.

Im taking him to the doc tomorrow anyway - but anyone have any ideas on how to help him or what might be the cause?

im confused?... is he constipated? or not cos u said its runny.. so why is he having so much trouble getting it out...

when my bubba was having a hard time doing poos.. even though now he still goes red and makes the grunting noises but its not painful for him.. anyway i used to give him some warm boiled water that seemed to help alot and was recommended by chn

hopefully the doc has some answers for u tommorow!!

Sounds like a reaction to the formula i would talk with your g.p or CHN because it sounds similar to the reaction we had when changing DS over onto a new formula when he was 6mths.

It could be his stomach adjusting to the S26 feed....as their tummies are so sensative... Take him to Dr to be sure everything is ok..... Goodluck

Other than the 1 feed of S26 is he normally on a different formula or is he on breastmilk ?

Is the poo frothy (think nasty milkshake) ?

My ds had s26 formula one night and he was in complete agony screaming the next day with each time he needed a poo.... I always breast fed him but was at hosi with dd and hubby gave him it in desperate measures... Anyway mch said he had normal poos but from that day he would have bright red face etc with his poo's every couple of days, so I was worried by then end of a few weeks took him to hosi to see if something was stuck but it was all clear.. We were told he probably tore his insides of his bum and got a fissure (sp?).. Which meant everytime he needed a poo he would remember the pain and tense the rip would tear again as he done a poo and he would be in agony...

Now I actually had this problem after child birth and it is sever pain and still happens now so I feel for him..

I've heard a few ppl say they've had grief with s26 (but haven't used it myself) - maybe you could change brands? The warm water could be a good idea too - not heaps so he thinks it's his feed......... the people on the 24hr nurse line might have some ideas too. Sorry - not much help, but I know how awful it is - my DD is perenially constipated and it's agony for her - I've ended up nearly in tears myself watching her pain

    Back from doc.

Garrett is colic... the pain he is experiencing is little air pockets between the waste coming out. So thats why nothing we did would help. Doc has suggested more tummy time as the pressure will relieve some of the pain for him. Doc described his pain as similiar to period pain... Poor little man
