I'm glad someone came in and cleared up the "free range" eggs thing. If you are going to boycott cage eggs, just boycott supermarket eggs all together and try and buy from a market or local producer.

I think they're *we do nice things for girls in trouble* is a disgusting front for what they actually do
if you google it though, Hillsong have tried to *distance* themselves from GJs yet they still have their pamphlets in the stores

I know what you mean! Their was a Gloria Jeans near my old office and it was run by some very fundamental Christians. Lovely people but the 'troubled girls' pamphlets and preachy natue of the staff was a turn off. All I wanted was a skinny soy latte not a bloody Psalm I felt like saying often. (never did though!)

I wont use telstra ever again. they screwed us over for 12 mths.

I wont use origin energy again either. We cancelled our account with them and requested a final bill to finalise it. A few weeks later (after several phone calls to get the bill) we finally got a letter... from their debt collector demanding payment within a week or they'd take us to court. Me, My husband and my mum all spent about an hour each on the phone to them to sort it out (in the end she paid it on her credit card to ***** it off for us). but then we start getting phone calls from them to say we haddn't paid it. The company told us to pay it directly to origin but origin haddn't informed them it had been paid! Now, 18months later i accidently paid money to them instead of my current power company and they are saying we owe them another $430 and they have been chasing us for 18months... even though we've had the same mobile numbers since then (the only numbers they had on file!!!). Grrr. b@stards!

Oh, i won't use ABC daycare either, they have screwed me over twice with payments now. My dad paid the final amount owing on a ABC in nsw after i moved (i gave him the money for it), and then a few weeks later i get a letter in the mail saying i owe them that amount, but because my dad couldn't find the reciept (he paid in cash) we couldn't prove he paid it and i had to pay $130 to them again. Then again when DD left another daycare, i finalised it with the daycare director when i left paid a really odd amount (something like 26.93 or something!) to finalise it, and about 8 months later i get a letter from their debt dept saying i owed $183 to them... I ended up having to pay this again coz (i'm stupid and didn't learn the first time!) and didnt keep reciepts...

I avoid Big W as much as possible to. I had a xmas laybuy last year with them and they cancelled it even though i was making regular payments, because i was 2 days later making the payment (it went 2 days over the 2 weeks) even though i rang to tell them i'd be a few days late, they cancelled it and i lost my laybuy. The manager on duty had the ability to put it on again but refused to because she was ''busy dealing with other stupid people like me''... umm???!!!

    Default Club Pink

It's a women only gym in Canberra, in Tuggeranong and Bruce.
They told me I couldn't possibly breastfeed my three month old baby because they weren't insured for it (?) and also, the other members might complain.

    Wot?

I boycott Loreal products because they test on animals.

I don't buy cage eggs... We buy our eggs from a local farm.

I didn't know about the Nestle thing though.... very interesting...

But I thought it was illegal for chickens etc to be 'caged' in Australia (like they're caged in america, with heaps of chooks shoved into tiny little cages?)

I live rural and we have the bayada (Sp?) chicken farm just out of town and the chickens aren't 'caged' but are kept in sheds for their entire lives,
Is this what is ment by caged?
I'm pretty sure the ones in the shed are what they term "barn laid" with the nice images of a country barn on the box.

Shell for this reason http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2...cution-charges and Nestle for reasons probably mentioned earlier - marketing formula to 3rd world countries and harassing doctors/midwives/nurses and offering incentives to get them to promote their formula and stop the women from breastfeeding, often forcing them to return to work VERY early after having their baby purely so they can afford bloody formula

I haven't read all the pages, so apologies if I'm repeating.

Pantene - used to be made in US, now made in Thailand - STILL the same price.

Colgate toothpaste - ditto, except used to be made here. Macleans is still made here as far as I know, I buy ALDI which is definately made here.

ALL brands of tinned tuna, except the white tuna from ALDI. John West used to be made in South Australia, but, you guessed it, is now made in Thailand with no reduction in price.

SO many tinned fruit varities and frozen vegetables are made in weird places, like South Africa. WHY are we importing tinned fruit from South Africa???? Why are we importing frozen vegetables from China???? Their manufacturing standards are nowhere near ours, and it just erks me that these companies put it on the labels in the tiniest print to fool naive consumers. Again, ALDI comes out in front for the most part. Their frozen vegies are from NZ for the most part, and some of their tinned stuff is Australian.

Moral to my story - please read the labels when you shop I just get so annoyed when these companies start making their products offshore, saving money on manufacturing, taking jobs from our economy, then charging us the consumer the same price. GRRRR! Boycotting is the only way to show them.

I WISH I could boycott Gloria Jeans, damn them and their tim tam chillers

I try and avoid caged eggs etc, I am hoping when we move down to Perth that we can find a great green grocer, butcher, get nice free range eggs etc from LOCAL suppliers.

I am starting to avoid Harvey Norman for personal reasons (I have been waiting for a refund of over $2500 for over a month now and am getting very annoyed by it!) Customer service there is astonishing low sometimes (although I have also had some great customer service too!)

I also boycott a particular Lenards as I have worked there and know what they do to the meat (I dropped a tray of chicken rolls and they just washed them and put them back on display, they dropped enchiladas and washed them and put them back out for sale, keeping out of date meat in the store room with fresh chicken, hygiene levels were very low, people not wearing proper safety gear etc) they also treat their staff pretty badly (I wasn't paid for over a month, and I wasn't the only member of staff who wasn't paid). I basically think the one I worked at was just trying to make money and cut corners where possible.

I try and buy ethical and environmentally friendly where possible. I also always check what is the meat I buy from supermarkets etc sausages especially as some can only be a small percentage of pork meat and the rest made up of pork fat, rusks etc (I found it out watching loads of food shows back in the UK so started checking years ago and it has become habit!)
