Default *very distressing* Bearing witness to disaster.

I think everyone in the west ought to see these photos, which demonstrate the inevitable destruction *our* demand for cheap energy has on the rest of the planet.

    **very distressing**

A boycott, though appropriate, is just not enough. This kind of senseless destruction is just NOT acceptable.

    Horrible.

It's kind of heart-warming to see humans attempting to clean oil off whatever animals they can catch. Makes us seem sort of slightly less ... evil. Very slightly.

It is so horrible. Seeing this kind of destruction. I remember hearing how the oil might affect the fishing industry.. Pfft. What about the Eco system?
Those poor animals. I personally haven't gone near BP since I heard of this. I wish I could do more to help

    Okay.....

So I dont read the news much at all. I knew there was an oil spill but I know nothing about it. Can someone tell me what exactly happened and why BP are the baddies in this case? As I said, I dont watch much news and the last time I tuned in I heard something about how BP were trying to 'fix' the problem.
