Default Baby goes to bed late

    Hi All,

My DD is 13 weeks old - I'm more of a go with the flow mum (I have a DS who is 3 - was a terrible sleeper as I did everything wrong according to the books). All my friends say I should be putting my baby on a routine however I do not wish to let her self settle and I do not wish to wake her from sleeping as thats just wrong. She is breastfed.

However she does catnap during the day 30 mins at a time - might do one sleep of about 2 hours. The only issue I have is she isn't in bed for the night till 9pm or even 10pm - I'm not a night person and I'm finding this hard. She does however either sleep through till 6ish or feeds around 3 and then wakes at 8am - awesome I know but I'm struggling with the late bedtime as my son can be an early riser.

Do I have to do a routine to fix this or will she just adjust over time? Was your baby a night owl and eventually start to go to bed earlier or do I need to make changes now? Not overly stressed but just thought I'd ask! I realise she is still very young but I liked having evenings to myself hehe oh and time with hubby too I suppose

My 14 week old goes to bed at that time as well. Unfortunately she always wakes once in the night for a feed about 2 or 3 and then wakes for the day between 6 and 7am. I tried to bring her bedtime forward and ended up having to get up twice in the night so I decided to leave it alone for now! I expect they eventually adjust in their own time. If she is showing tired signs earlier maybe you could try gradually adjusting the time by 10-15 minute increments and see what happens.
    Good luck

I'm in the same boat as u! It's normally snack feeding from 6pm anywhere up to 11.30pm but the she only wakes once between then and 7-8am. I'd love to try n get her in earlier...

My 17 week old just all of a sudden started sleeping from 7pm.

I would usually put her down for a nap at 7, then she would be up at 8 and not down again until 10 sometimes 11 after a feed. But probably just over a month ago now she would go down for her normal nap at 7 but just slept through, and now at 7 I can put her in her cot awake and she will just doze off.

Your DD may just adjust herself like mine did, otherwise you could maybe try shortening her afternoon and evening naps or try and re settle instead of getting her up if she does have an evening nap?
