Default HELP please- HCG levels drop then rise again

Hi, I'd like to know if anyone else has had anything similar happen to them and what the outcome was. My HCG levels rose well in the first 2 weeks then dropped....so prepared for misscairaige. Now they have risen again. Here are my levels:
    16DPO- 200
    21DPO- 880
    29DPO -450
    32DPO -320
36DPO -Scan, only small sac seen on vag u/s
    38DPO- 590
I have had no bleeding and only mild, occaisional cramping but not painful. This is very confusing for me. FS still doesn't think its a viable pregnancy (which is what i also believed). I just think this rise again is strange. Apparantly ectopic can't be ruled out at this stage, even though FS saw a small sac in my uterus. Any one have any thoughts of what is going on.? I don't really want a d&c but i don't want natural m/c to take forever. Thanks

I have no idea, but the first thing that popped into my head was twins?? That would account for it rising then dropping (loss of one twin) But still rising.

But as i said i have no idea and this is merely a guess.

Oh fingers crossed for you Treeny...I really hope it continues to rise again for you and i think a second scan is the way to go for sure.

You asked about a natural MC and a D&C.....(again i hope you numbers continue to rise and you don't have to contemplate either) but I have had to have both and in my situation the D&C was marginally less stressful. I found the waiting unbearable for the first natural MC(2 weeks) and when it didn't happen natually the second time (my body was holding on) I had to have a D&C anyway after waiting for over a week to MC.

My thoughts are with you and hopefully you'll get some answers very soon.

I had one misc where the hcg did a little stagnant and then went up again (didn't drop though so can't do a direct comparison). We didn't even see a sac on U/S just some clots, but couldn't see any ectopic either. (too early) Anyway we followed the hcg for almost 2 weeks, (I've really given up by then), he found at the hysteroscopy that the placenta was still firmly attached despite a non viable fetus, and the placenta was producing all the hcg. Sure enough after the D+C the hcg came down the next day.

The only danger if you see a sac in utero and the hcg is not doing well is that you can have twins, one in utero and one ectopic.
