Elleandsam does that mean he goes away to where there is fighting? how scary!

iLOVEthree some people are just so rude!

tayahnkai yep, I agree its so nice to chat with people who understand what its like! I don't think I could do three kids with him working away. We aren't having any more babies.

    Hi!!!
    Can I join in?
DH works away 1 week on 1 off, he is actually DIDO, we are in Perth and he works @ boddington gold mine
He has been doing it for about 12 months now, and I actually don't mind it
I miss him so much, but the week goes by pretty fast.
The worst weeks are when one or all of the kids get sick
    Anyways better finish dinner off!

I popped in earlier in the thread but coming in for a bit of a vent.

DH is so freaking busy when he is away, and always so stressed, it is hard to get a decent conversation out of him. I can tell his mind is elsewhere when I am talking to him I know he has a lot on his plate at the moment but so do I, we just moved to Perth a few months ago, I hardly know anybody, and we have 3 kids under 5 years. I must admit he is better when he is at home now, because at the beginning he didn't switch off even when he was at home.

To answer the earlier question, yes we are in Perth, DH is a Project Manager (civil engineer) and he is managing the construction of a transmission line for a new mine for Karara.

Another question, what are you all investing your extra hard earned money in? Looking for some more smart ideas

Nice to see some chatting in here! My dh is diesel fitter and he's just moved from Kalgoorlie (gold mine) to coober pedy! He's on a better roster now 2:1 so I'm a bit more happy about it! I cannot imagine having away for more than that and I think the ladies who have their dh's away for 6-8 weeks or months are absolute superstars!

Just started FIFO 3'months ago but we're focused on paying off our mortgage! No other investments at this stage!

Not sure yet but we saw a financial adviser last week and will be getting a plan. What we would love to do is rent this house out and live on a big property with lots of fruit trees and chooks

Where in Perth are you? My kids are under 5 too (4 and 2.5)

Actually, I think our real investment is covering the wage that I used to bring in so I can stay home with my babies

I'm at Carramar which is near Joondalup.

I could say the same, DH wage makes it easy for me to be a SAHM but truthfully we spend waaay to much and really need to pull our heads in and start to get ahead. It is so embarrassing how much we haven't saved

I'm WA also, just past Joondalup. DP is airforce, no return date ATM as he is in Tindal and unfortunately no extra pay even tho he is away I think I'd be alot happier if the money was at least decent. The last 4 months have been hard but it's hitting home more now that I'm getting close to giving birth the my second child. Anyone else her pregnant?

    Hi!!
    I'm eastern suburbs
It's the same thing here, the kids always seem to get sick when DH is away not fair at all!!
I'm lucky in the DIDO situation though in the way that if I need him home, he is a 1.5-2hr drive home, dosnt have to wait for flights
