Please some men its all about them bet he was their for the conception. LOL

He will not even see you being cut its not like you are getting cut in half.

Sorry but tell him he needs to get over himself and support you.

The being awake part is a bit funny but once you get your head around the idea that their is no pain just sensation of movement its ok.

I'm in the same position LD... I was knocked out for my first c/s (DS, now 20 months) and I'm 20 weeks along with bubba 2.

I really want to be more 'with it' this time - that first day is an absolute blur, I can kind of remember DS being brought in to me, but it's not very clear. Also, he was born at 8:12am, and I didn't get to see him until after 11am.

But I'm also a bit worried about how I'm going to be being awake... I know it's not the same, but I have had moles cut out before and that's a weird feeling - having the sensation of being cut but without the pain.

As for your DH not being there... does he realise that there will be a big screen so he won't actually see anything? He'll be up at your head. I can understand his apprehension, but he may end up regretting not seeing his bub born when he has the chance. I know my DH would have loved to be there when DS was born, but because it was an emergency and under general anesthetic, that just wasn't possible. My DH has a real blood phobia, but I don't think there's anyway I would be able to keep him out of the room this time lol. Anyway, even if your DH doesn't come around, it's great that your mum is going to be there for you - I'm sure she'll love seeing her granchild born
    regards

I've had 2 caesars, first was an emergency after trying all day and night, and 2nd was elective.

The 2nd time around was fantastic. I was first in for the day and had DD2 at 9.09am.

I requested a cathetar in theatre as well - the midwife actually tried to tell me she could do it in the ward, so there was more privacy, as there would be lots of people in theatre. I didnt care who saw it been done, as long as I didnt feel it! As it turned out, everyone was busy in there getting everything prepped anyway, its not like they stopped and watched!

My recovery went well, but as everyone else has said, keep up with the meds. If you get behind with them, its really hard to catch up again. A few times I had to ask the middies for mine.

Another thing is granny undies. Sounds terrible, but I hated the way that bikini undies sat on my wound, I felt better with big undies.

Hope it all goes well for you! Dont forget the camera, we gave ours to a nurse and he took some brilliant pics.

I can understand where your husband is coming from. I'm a fainter, and I don't even need to see blood, just being in an uncomfortable situation will do it. I have always felt "lucky" that I'm the one who'll be on the table instead of being the support person - I know sounds silly, but if I'm the patient, I'm allowed to faint or scream or whatever. But they don't need a "support person" passing out on them.

He may not feel bad on missing out on the birth last time. But if he secretly would like to see the birth, just doesn't think he can handle it, maybe talk to your ob about things that could be done to help him. Like obviously making sure he doesn't see anything. Maybe having a "way out" if he decides he can't handle it - sometimes that's all is needed, just knowing you can leave if you have to, and then you cope just fine.

My DH has a very weak stomach and throughout my pregnancy confirmed many times that he will come in but doesn't want to cut the cord or see any blood!

Once we were in there, the OB asked DH if he wanted to see DD being born and he wad right up there with the camera taking photos, and I found out that he even cut the cord!

I was so surprised, so you never know, if you can convince your DH to go in with you he might just seize the moment!

I am 30-31 wks now... This is my first but i have had previous abdo surgery and have a few scars... Around 16/18 weeks i had horrific stretching pains in my lower tummy kind of on top of the area you normally feel period pain, only you know its your tummy muscles.... Doing anything that required moving was almost unbearable...

I have had random ones since then but nothing like those in my tummy area itself....

At the time i did panic and call my midwife... i had no idea what to expect from my body at that stage, if i only knew then what was to come

Hope this is the case for you....

Hey everyone thanx for your great replies

Just wondering if you all had the hepron shots after your c-sect?
My OB has strongly recomended them but iam scared as I was told after I had surgery last yr that if id have had the shots i would have most prob died because the surgeons accidently gave me internal bleeding and didnt pick up on it for 24hrs when i got really sick from it. The hepron shots thin your blood so you dont get blood clots but what if you get internal bleeding?? This is probably my biggest worry about my c-sect atm Any advice would be great.
Also do the docs use forceps to get the baby out or do they use their hands??

BUB2010: How are you and your bubs going? Have you got a date for your c-sect now?

Forceps. We didn't realise this with DD1, & DH was convinced the red mark on her face was because she must have been burnt by the heat lamps she was put under after birth. Then DD2 had red marks on her too, and when we asked a midwife she told us it was from the forceps! In my experience, someone has pushed at the top of my uterus as the ob has lifted the baby out as well.

Little dunn 2 - I was having sharp pains on my scar when I was coughing, my ob said it's beacause scar tissue doesn't stretch or "give", so I think pain in that area is fairly normal.

Only 4 weeks to go til my number 4!!

I had an elective c/s last year due to previous spinal surgery. I woke up fine but was held in recovery a tad longer as I'm allergic to most pain relief and they wanted to monitor me on the stuff they gave me.

DH wasn't allowed into the op room but my ob allows his midwife to take photos, so we have lovely pics of munchkin being born. DH was allowed to wait outside the doors and was there to watch her being weighed and measured and everything that goes with it. I have some amazing pics of the two of them together for the 1st time and him having a grin from ear to ear! As for the bonding well that happened straight away with me and her.

Would I do it again....apart from that 1st initial pain when you first get up and walk...yep would do it in a heartbeat. If it means i can walk and play with bubs instead of blowing my back and being laid up in bed for weeks then I don't care if others have a problem as to how i have my child!

As for pp mentioning undies....I tried mens rio loose fitting trunks...damn they were the best undies i have ever worn!!!! was sorry when i stopped wearing them and wore my own...lol
