LOL I saw this thread and noticed I'd already posted in it, but I'm like "I don't remember that." Old thread.

Changed my mind anyway... if I won a 100m people would know. Suddenly all those tiny candy kiosks places would be called "This Candy Is Mine" and you wouldn't be able to go there. Lol.

Nope. I might say we'd won a modest amount (enough for a house deposit) but not $100mil

I'd want to share the wealth wïth friends and family so we coud all go have fun together (would be so lonely to be only one with money) so I would have to tell some people close to me, but I would want to keep it as private as possible, and I'd be vague on exact figure.

I would want to give some to my family/good friends but I would want to know what I was doing before mentioning it, so as not to be swayed and really think about what was best for each indivisual I wanted to share it with. For this reason, I wouldn't tell anyone but I'd organise various accounts, bank cheques and trust funds and then tell them when I actually gave it to them, along with a personal letter on why I have chosen to give them that amount and by that method. I would also want to stipulate that the money was not a payment of any sort, it was not a loan and they owe me nothing in return. I would also like to politely stipulate that it was a one time offer- not something that I would repeat should they make bad decisions with the money.

Money can be a catalyst for greed.

I would tell immediate family and help them out so we could all retire but I don't think I'd tell anyone else..

I like this! I would also take 3-6months to think about it and get it all set up properly.

The very first thing I'd do is book DH and I into a health retreat (clean eating, yoga at dawn, daily meditation etc) for 2 weeks where we could just clear our minds and think it through and get our heads around it. Then sit down with the lawyers and financial advisors etc.

Keeping $100m a secret would be impossible. Keeping $5m a secret - yep, no problems.
