    Default Private Adoption

Sorry, that isn't an area I am in the know about. We are waiting on public adoption proceedings. I would think you would likely need to speak to a solicitor about the legal proceedings, and you should probably seek mediation/counselling of some sort for all parties involved to be sure that everyone has the same expectations of the arrangement and there will be no concerns later. Whatever the circumstances it is a great gift your friends wish to give but it's best to be sure all legal requirements are safe and secure, because these delicate sort of matters can turn ugly if not handled properly, best of luck.

Nanay18, the type of adoption you are talking about is illegal in Australia. If parenting through adoption is something you would like to pursue, you need to contact your local adoption agency and arrange attendance at an information session.
If your friend genuinely does not want to parent her 4th child she will need to speak to social workers at her maternity hospital so she receives appropriate counseling about her options

Just wondering, when we are successful and have placment of a baby, do we get anything from centrlink? As in like the same payments as we would get if we had a baby naturally? Or does that only happen when the adoption is legal?

Default Local Infant Adoption in Victoria

That sounds more like a fostering situation called Kinship care. Adoption may be possible way down the track after years and years of fostering. You can find out more about that on the DHHS site at this link:

    http://www.dhs.vic.gov.au/for-indivi...e/kinship-care

Or read the information on his website:
    http://kinshipcarersvictoria.org

I should add that I'm just guessing here. You and your friend would be better off calling one of the agencies or DHHS to ask them and as Walhalla says seeing a social worker and getting counselling first.

    Default Update on Slow Doctor

So our doctor has finally seen to writing his report, after 6 months, and has billed us a neat sum of $400 for the pleasure. Anyone know if i'd have any chance of getting something from medicare, I doubt REPORT will be considered a suitable item number.😒

    Default Doc bills

Muzzy, when we kept pestering him to do it he said he hadn't had time because they were 14 essay style questions and would take him several hours, i presume that's why the fee. It's just the reports on our medical history. Hubby has a rare condition which is why we can't have kids, it's under control and has no bearing on his life otherwise. (He lived with it for 27 years and never knew). They've had the report from his specialist for months so I don't know why so much was needed from a GP.

I'm sorry to hear you got charged so much and had so much trouble Hydz. My GP ( who has been my doctor for several years) completed the medical questionnaire in a double appointment and charged the standard fee. Hubby's GP saw him for a regular appointment, completed the form overnight and bulk billed. I guess it's at the Drs discretion.
