Hi everyone. Just subbing to this thread - my DH has 1% morphology but his counts and everything else is fine. We have been told we will most likely need ivf I feel so overwhelmed by it all. Is there anyone else in a similar situation?

Hi hummingbird, after a vasectomy reversal 15 years since originally having the snip, my DH was low on all bases. We tried naturally for about a year after the surgery to no avail.

We eventually got a referral to a fertility specialist and told our best chance was to go straight to IVF and use ICSI (where they inject a selected sperm straight into the egg). Luckily that worked first go for us.

Our FS told us that with male factor, if any of the 3 aren't "normal" your chances of getting pregnant naturally are dramatically reduced. If the count isn't high enough there's simply not enough of them to pierce the egg, if the motility is low then they won't get there, if the morphology is off then they may not be able to get through, and if they do then you run the risk of abnormalities and a non viable pregnancy.

Making the decision to pursue IVF is incredibly overwhelming, and I can only speak from the perspective of someone who has had success, but after getting over the initial anxiety about it, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made.

    Good Luck!

    Hi bbhope,

I'm ok, we have been on a bit of a roller coaster in the last few months
    Well update:
We had our appointment today, and no real surprise that I have Adenomyosis and the severe kind apparently, plus my right ovary is now PCOS. So this cycle I have to start a new drug called synarel its a nasal spray that is meant to keep my uterus more 'normal' to hold an embryo when we get to that stage. But apparently it is a 6 week cycle instead of 3. So I have a blood test on the 18th of this month, and we start the injections at the end of the month I think. Still trying to get my head around it all. It's just hard as she also said that i am at higher risk of developing OHSS ( ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome). Plus my vitamin D is low, should be between 70 and 250 mine was 43, so I have to take two vitamin D tablets now as well.
Plus we both have to work at losing weight, which as we all know is hard. Have to say I'm feeling a little down at the moment. Feeling like we get lots of bad news, but we can still have a baby which is the good news. We both thought they might have said that we couldn't try any more. We could go through all this and Brenton may still have no sperm, we live in eternal hope.
I'm grateful we have Emma but wonder if she will ever have a bother or sister.

so we are about to start our cycle and just hoping praying that DH has enough sperm to use in the cycle.

Nicole, i am on the 6 weeks cycle as well. I started the bcp few weeks ago and now synarel few days ago. My vit D is even lower than u, 20 or something. Then, they found a cyst and ovary size is also abnormal. Wish my first FS would test all of these rather than now to find out by my current FS and starting the cycle. I tried to take walks on weekend and a bit of sun exposure at lunch time during weekday. Well, with all of these, we are also in the same boat of wondering if DH has any sperm. One more stress for us is financially (all out of pocket without medicare or priv).

It looks like we will be cycling together will start injection early Dec. best of luck to us all then.

You r blessed to have a daughter. A sibling would be a bonus for sure.

    Hi all

Had my first blood test yesterday for this cycle. But also found out today we won't having the egg pickup until January. So a long few weeks ahead of us, but on the upside DH and I are exercising everyday and eating healthy. Plus I am finally managing to drink at least two litres of water a day. As have been told my chances of developing OHSS is higher now we are on the synarel. So I am looking at it as more time to lose weight and be healthy.

Well just had my phone call from Repromed and I start the nasal spray tomorrow, have another blood test on the 29th of November. Then start injections soon after. So all on track for the moment. Just hope I don't have to many side effects from the nasal spray.

i do feel lucky we have a DD, so I know miracles work as she was a result of our fourth ICSI cycle in 2010. We had given up hope, I didn't have the support from a group like this, which I have found to be so helpful with being able to talk to people who understand what I'm going through.

We had a miracle, my husband only had to have tese to get enough sperm for this cycle. So we were stoked to have our embryos. I had a four day embryo transferred on Tuesday, now and hoping praying etc, as out of my 7 eggs, 6 were fertilised, 1 transferred and none frozen

Yay Nicole! Very glad to hear! I was thinking about you. So we basically cycle together. Hope we both have the sticky one! FS only found 1 sperm from DH mTESE but abnormal. Devastated. But the sample gave 5 sperms (not all motile). They only got 5 mature eggs out of me anyway. Only 1 fertilized one day 1. Another one is slow. I had a day 5 transfer with the one. FInger crossed.

Nicole77... that's great news about so many fertilised. That gave you a good lot to pick from by transfer day. Congrats now on being pupo. When's your preg BT?

Bbhope... yes, your DH's mTESE result was similar to mine. It will take a while to feel better about it all, but you will eventually get there. Congrats too on being pupo as well.

AFM.... I had EPU this morning. As predicted they collected 4 eggs, 2 that turned out mature and were injected. DH gave a sperm sample, but the scientist called to say that they looked but wasn't any sperm, so no surprise there. They used the anon donor sperm, and said they found two nice sperm to use. They will call in the morning (Sat) to say if they fertilise overnight, so fingers crossed for a good party in the petri dish overnight :-)) If all is well, they will do a 3dt on Monday, as 5dt would be Xmas Day and they're closed then.

Nicole77, are you planning to do the HPT? Your BT will be the same day as me, I assume. That's 12dp5dt in my case. I read somewhere that 9dp5dt would be long enough to get the result. With Christmas all that, perhaps it isn't to bad to wait until the official BT but I guess it is only 3dp5dt now who knows if i could resist in the near future.
