Bbhope....The long down regulation takes about 2 weeks, so then your stimming isn't synched with the start of AF, like other protocols are. That's how the clinic can give you the date of Dec 13. I never quite worked out why the other protocols work off the menstrual cycle, but the long down one doesn't, but it seems to work. That's great that you have a date locked in. Did you say the Dr G will now organise a FS for you through IVFA, or have you already got that sorted yourself?

AFM.... my cycle was cancelled today when it seems that I've ovulated my big follicle early!!

What?! Cancelled? How did that happen? I thought they would monitor closely. Sorry to hear that.

Actually, it makes more sense to me to follow the cycle. If one starts the stim on a random day of a cycle, it will mess up the hormone and harder to control. Well, at least this is what i think. Ok, i read it somewhere that a long down takes 2 months, thats why i am a bit concerned. I cancelled all my trips in Dec so if i cancel another one in early Nov, i will probably lose my job.

Yes, Dr G organized the doctor and nurse for me -- Dr Manny. It seems like a lot of you use Prof I and Dr pearson so i am wondering why Dr G decides to team up with a newbie this time. Problem in the past?

Anyway, Dr G did mention that he would pick a young one who is on her way up and is willing to try new things. It sounds like we are the guinea pig. Lol. I am not sure if this is good or bad. Dr Manny is currently researching the relation between inhibin b levels and TESE. So we are probably one of her data point.

Bbhope - when we had our appointments with Dr G last year, there was a young female dr who was sitting in on the appointments & taking the opportunity to learn from Dr G. Perhaps that was her - she was very nice.
My FS was actually Dr Kemball & he is very nice too, and definitely not a newbie. So I wouldn't assume that anyone other than the 2 you'd heard other people mention is a newbie. They treat a lot of patients there, and not everyone Dr G sees would be on this forum!
Oh, and someone who is willing to try new things is definitely a positive thing!

    Hi all,

I haven't been on for a while, as we have had nothing happening until today. We changed clinics, saw our new dr yesterday and I really like her. We have been told there is still a chance that my DH is still producing some sperm which they will take with a day procedure, an tese, pisa and maybe a biopsy if they think needed. Then if there's sperm there we will know on the day, and it will be frozen, then he will heal for a couple of months and we will do a cycle. If there are no sperm then we will book on the donor program. It is all gonna take months to get near a cycle, frustrated at the moment. But am trying to positive and use the time to lose some weight and get healthy. Just trying to keep hope alive.

well have just heard from our FS and DH tests were ok enough to go ahead with the collection via needle of sperm. So we may still have a chance to have our own child, a little frustrating the wait but it will be worth it. Plus fives me two to three months to get more healthy and lose some weight, just trying to see the upside. Plus it means we won't be eating more money going through a cycle with no boy bits available. As we all know this is not a cheap endeavour and we don't have endless amounts of money. So won't be stiming this cycle, won't know until the 9th of October what we are doing. So probably not doing a cycle until December or January.

Bbhope.... yes this cycle was doomed from the first BT test which showed low estrogen. First scan showed a couple of very small follicles, very slow growing. Second scan showed one biggish follicle and a couple of tiny ones. Third scan the big follicle had gone and were just a couple of medium ones, but by then had been stimming 15 days or so, and would still need another 4-5. All didn't look great.

Prof I and Dr P both are extremely booked up, so perhaps not possible to get them, but there are lots of other great FSs at IVFA. I had a different one for one of my EPU (can't remember name), but he was lovely. The thought that she's willing to try different things, and is specialising in MFI is also a bonus.

Nicole... that sounds like a good plan. We really wasted that cycle when no sperm was found during the mTESE.

AFM... My FS emailed the other day to say he's not going to start me again straight away but wait a whole month to recover from the meds. He'd also like to give a pipette scratch a go, so will plan that in between now and starting the next cycle (apparently is done on day 21). Bit disappointed about not starting straight away, feeling time is running out, but at the same time, glad to be trying something different. The only thing is that I'll be back to work then, so am going to need to think of some good medical excuses when the time comes :-)
