Default Moving from Brisbane to Perth....heeeelp!!

OMG! We just found out we are moving from Brisbane to Perth I've never been to Perth, so I'm freaking out.

We are looking at moving to the Joondalup area? What are some nice suburbs around that area?

Can you rent a decent house in a nice area for $450 a week? Or do we need to budget more?

Schools I'm looking at are Currambine Catholic Primary School, or maybe Currambine Primary, Joondalup Primary - anybody have an experience or feedback? Or other suggestions?

Also Star Factory Dance Centre and State Swim School in Joondalup?

Any feedback AT ALL would be sooo much appreciated

I would definarly budget more for rental, although it all depends on what your looking for. A coworker of mine pays 400 a week for a studio apartment in the centre of joondalup.

$450 should be fine for a house ,try www.realestate.com.au they have most of the rentals listed in the area on that site.

Welcome to Perth first of all

You might want to jump onto realestate.com.au and check out the rentals in the areas you are interested in to gauge an idea if $450 pw will be enough for what you want.

I'm 10mins nth of Joondalup in Mindarie which I love, but Currambine, Joondalup, Kinross, Iluka, Mindarie and Clarkson do have some really nice houses.

Cant help you with schools sorry as mine go to Peter Moyes Anglican Community School and we are very happy here.

I wasnt a fan of State Swim in Joondalup and we changed them to Swim School in Merriwa - alot smaller classes and we thought better teaching.

Cant help with dance either - no dancers in this household.

    Oh thanks everybody.

The suburbs we are looking at are Currambine, Joondalup, Iluka, Ocean Reef and Kinross - although I have heard that Ocean Reef and Kinross are a bit 'rougher' areas??

Also, any feedback on day care centres in those areas would be fab too.

    Thanks again!

Hi welcome to Perth! The other side of Joondalup is Carramar and Tapping both really nice, newish, family friendly suburbs. You can definately rent a nice house in these suburbs for $450. My daughter goes to St Simon Peters catholic primary in Ocean Reef. Love the school but currumbine catholic really good too. John Cleary Dance Center is the only school in Joondalup area that does proper exams and state and national competitions. They did the Showcase National Dance Championship in Qld in January 2010( more info on showcase website) or jcdc@westnet.com.au
hope to see you soon. When are you moving?
