    Great Barrier Broken

Unfortunately our Barrier reef is really sick from loads of things. I think vessels should pay big money to have Australia captains navigate them once they hit Australian waters....especially around our reef

I think it's absolutely terrible. I hope BIG fines are dished out, and the money should go towards the clean up of the oil, and further preservation of the great barrier reef. It's just so appalling.

I really do believe that there will come a time when the great barrier reef is dead and gone, crushed by boats, damaged by other causes, like oil spills and chemicals, bleached further by the sun. I'd like to think it won't happen.

That's a link to a petition, please sign it. I'm so sad about this. In the September school holidays, I'll be taking DD on a train up north, spending a couple of days around there, then coming back on the glass bottom boat so she can see the Great Barrier Reef before it's completely destroyed by people.

I am so upset and p!$$ed off about this, it's revolting that our government let these tankers go any where near our barrier reef (the best reef in the world). It should be preserved and cherished.
Huge fines should be handed out and tankers taken if they come within XX meters of the reef, they might then think twice about cutting corners iykwim.
I will sign the petition now.
