Wink We want a family but need help - looking for a surrogate

We live in Queensland and although the law is passed it will take time for the law to be proclaimed. We have tried over a 5 year period, 13 IVF cycles only to find out at the end of it all that all the failed attempts were a result that I can't carry. It was only once we changed doctors that full tests were carried out to find these results, after 5 years of IVF heartache. We have been waiting for the laws to change in Queensland however it all will take time to complete the full process here. The heartache of being told we can't have a family is so hard. Surrogacy is our only option, so we are hoping to head to Melb IVF clinic next month and hoping there is a wonderful person who can help us complete our dream of having a family of our own. We have been married for 10 beautiful years this year. If anyone knows of a very special person to help us please let us know.

We are in Queensland too. Do you know anything about the laws, i can't seem to find anything out. We have a surrogate, but our IVF clinic said that its not legal to do a 'commercial' surrogacy.
I wish you luck in Melb. Good luck! and baby dust to you

Hi, the Qld law was passed in parliament in Feb this year however the law is not proclaimed as yet. This part of the law took Victoria 2 years to complete. I believe the law will go to the Governor General for I guess final signing however there are sections of the law will take some time to process. It will take birth, deaths & marriages division approx 3 months to be ready according to articles I have found. It could take sometime in Qld, that's why we are hoping to do this process in Victoria as we can start now, but need to find a very special person to help us make this dream come true.
Commercial surrogacy remain illegal in Queensland The surrogacy process is a long detailed process but truely worth it in the end if it works out.
Wish you all the best and baby dust right back at you.

I am very interested in Surrogacy. Having given up a baby for adoption at 21 and had 3 beautiful children of my own I have always said to my husband I would be willing to look into it in the future.

I am 33 this year and my youngest is almost 6 months old. My oldest is 8 and middle is 3.5.

All four pregnancies were uneventful and resulted in natual births of big healthy babies.

I need to do some more reading into medical testing/involvment as Ive just stumbled onto 'bub hub' and this part of the forum. I am definatly interested though as we are 100% finished out family but I do enjoy pregnancy and in giving up a baby for adoption found it very good experience and one Ive never regreted.

    Dr Goral_Rotunda

As a Queensland resident it is illegal for us to do surrogacy in India, it is classed as commercial surrogacy.

    Default Hi There

    Hi,

I am in similar shoes. I am currently 34 and have just had a hysterectomy due to issues with Uterine cancer. We have not had a chance to start a family ... but had the blessing of having 5 embryos frozen prior to my hysterectomy.

We are likely to be looking into surrogacy in India or China. Commercial surrogacy is illegal in all states of Australia as far as I know ... but I as not aware that you couldn't go overseas and bring the baby back into Australia?

Is this something you have already looked into? I was not aware of it until I just read your reply to Dr. Goral?

I wish you all the best as I, too have a huge hole in my heart due to the grief of not being able to bear children.

    Good luck.
