Mice in the house

We have mice living in our over grown front yard & thanks to all the recent rain we've had they have now called our house home much to my disgust.

We've tried traps & caught two

but today ive seen another two. One behind the TV & one thats living between the kitchen & laundry.

Ive over trying to trap them when we have one mouse who is smarter than us & can get the bait off the trap & snap it without being caught.

Im thinking rat sack is our next option cause IM OVER IT!!

For those who have had mice issues, what have you used to catch them?

Use peanut butter on the trap as bait, that way they can't steal it off the trap before it sets off, they gotta stay there to eat it

Try as hard as you can to get rid of any food source they may have. (pet food, bird seeds, cereal, rice, grains etc)
Block up any holes you have leading into the house, big gaps under doors etc. (they can get into the house through holes as small as a pencil)

my dad lent me his traps - they are silver and really sensitive too pressure. we just used to smear a small amount of peanut butter on it and left it behind the tv cabinet for a few days. the other trap we put under the sink.

the traps were good because we didn't have to touch mousey to dispose of him just opened over the toilet and flushed.

A little while ago our mice problem got a little crazy lol We just bought 2 traps and put them in the problem areas. We caught like 8 mice in the first half day of having it. Lost count after that. The problem soon depleated but I still hear them scratching away at night... Little buggers.

We've tried Peeny Butter, nutella, dog food, kids left over sandwich. Non has caught that last ones.

Ive blocked up all holes with expanding foam & the dog food lives in a 20L drum with locked lid.

Oh yuck. I hate mice but have had them in our last two houses.

We tried traps and were catching them in them but found we still had mice lurking. In the end we realised that we had waaaay more than one or two mice and had to shut off all entry points for the mice. My DH put those weather strips on all doors so no more mice could get in.

We also put some baits around. That was a last resort, because I was terrified that a mouse would die somewhere and I wouldn't be able to find it. This happened to a friend - she ended up finding a verrrry dead and smelly mouse between the cushions on her couch.

Good luck with it. I know how horrible they are.

I also use peanut butter on traps and it works wonders.
I've heard that peppermint and spearmint essential oils can keep them away... apparently they hate the smell. I am yet to try it out though...haven't been able to find the oils in any shops so looks like I'll be buying online.

I just bought peppermint based cleaning spray, reckon it would do that same?

traps under the dishwasher got a few. baits in the ceiling got a few more, just had to check around the back near the water tank and whatever else often cos tess was much smaller then and a poisoned mouse to a small puppy wouldn't have been nice.
my brother's tip is to put a thin thing over a sink of water with peanut paste or similar in the middle and oil on it, do it over night. they go for the bait, fall off and drown. not nice but can't do much about that. our baits didn't kill most of hte ones they caught so i had to drown them cos dp wouldn't.. it was icky. seriously, seriously icky. cos to speed up the proccess i had to get a plastic cup and put over them in the water upside down and you could hear them screaming. ewwwwww i really hope i never have to do that again.
go with baits they dehydrate the mice then just check around wet areas inside and outside before your kids/dogs get to them.
