Post no doctor visit till 15 weeks...

hi girls and mums. I am pregnant for 6 weeks suffering from morning sickness. This is my second pregnancy and i went to private hospital for my first one. This time i am planning on going to a public Werribee mercy hospital. I just booked in Dr Ong and he is booked out till the end of may...which means i cant see any doctor till 15 weeks!! I am so worried about my baby is ok. for the first one i went to see a doctor when i was 7weeks and had an ultrasound. i want to have the down ultrasound in 12weeks, but a clinic nurse from Dr said i had to go to Gp and ask him to arrange that ultrasound for 12 weeks Because my ob is booked out till 15 weeks of my pregnancy..Is GP is arranging for those things? I have an appointment with GP on Monday, and scared he would say he wouldn't do that.

anyone have had similar experience? Please give me some advice! and i Appreciate if you know GPS where is good for pregnant women around western suburbs in Melbourne.

    Very thanks

Theonly reason you would need a scan at 12 weeks is if you had certain problems with your other pregnancy, or bleeding in this one, or at in the high risk group for chromosomal abnormalities. Not seeing your OB until 15 weeks is perfectly OK otherwise. I didn't meet with my midwife until 16 weeks, andonly went to a GP for the NT test referrals.

A GP can certainly refer you to get an NT scan done at 12/13 weeks if you wish (and if you want the full test you also will need a referral form to have blood taken at around 10 weeks preg), but you may have to pay for it (mine cost $200 and only $60 back from medicare) unless you can find a scanning place that bulk bills.

I know it's hard not to worry, but the vast majority of pregnancies go perfectly well so if you have no physical indicator that soimething is wrong and the pregnancy is going well so far then try not to let the what-if's consume you. Have faith in your body and your baby.

I didn't see a doctor until 20 weeks!! I just went to my GP to get a referral for an NT scan even though I'm not high risk, just to put my mind at rest.

So I'd say what's happening with you is normal, but just make sure you communicate with your GP in the mean time for all necessary bloods / scans.

    Good luck and congratulations! X

I had DD at Werribee mercy last year and all the OB there are private OB that use a public hossie.

I rang my OB when i was 9 weeks and couldnt get in until i was 24 weeks and my GP did all the tests i needed to have until then.

Im actually surprised that you could find a GP that is working on Monday, mine is closed.

I'm from the Western Subs & actually lived in Werribee for most of my life... I've had both my bubs at Sunshine Hospital & am having this one there too, I didn't see my middy until 19 weeks & only saw the OB this week, I got all my bloods & 12 weeks scan done through my GP, very easily organised but will more than likely cost you, mine cost $150. Don't stress, but if you don't like your GP or Hospital then look somewhere else, come to Sunshine with me! But I know lots of women that have had their bubs at Werribee and had no probs

    Default Hi

    Hi Anashino

I suffered a missed miscarriage last year and had a d and c at the Royal Women's. They recommended for my next pregnancy to go the Millers Circle Clinic in Altona North and see Dr Janice Coleman, she is wonderful and is who i am seeing now with this pregnancy. She wrote a referral for an 8 week scan to check viability ect. and has been very thorough. This is important if you are going through the public health system because you don't see an ob until so late. I am currently working on a letter with my dr so that I get accepted to have bubs at the Royal Women's as I love the hospital - this is where my sister had my nephew.

Hope this helps and i hope your feeling a little better.

    Smile this helped

    hi risa

thanks for your advice. I called Royal woman's hospital when i found i was pregnant but i live in Altonameadows and they kinda rejected me because what they said was they don't want me to give a birth on freeway and call ambulance from west gate bridge....but the lady from RW told me about a clinic at Altona as you mentioned. I booked there straight away but i went to a GP before an appointment and GP gave me a ref feral for 8 weeks scan! i went to have a ultrasound last week and baby was fine

now i have to book for the down screening for 12 weeks. I am still suffering from morning sickness and it is so sad that i havent cook proper food neither cleaned the house for last 4 weeks!!

hope our pregnancy will go well
    thanks for your post!

    shino
