Hi Shellie,
I tried S26 Gold with my bub when she was 1 week old and it gave her terrible wind and constipation. I have read that quite a few people have experienced the same thing with S26 Gold.
I have heard that any 'Gold' formula contains more iron which may be the cause of the wind issues and constipation, so maybe stick to non 'Gold' formulas.
Due to my DD's wind and upset tummy issues, I have put her on Novalac Colic formula on the Paediatrician's advice, and it was a god send, she was 80% better within a week.

There is no 'best' formula. It all depends on your child and how they react to each formula. Some bubs get constipated on S26, others on Karicare. Some bubs chuck on Nan, others get runny poos on Heinz. There are really no rules to which is best.
I found S26 good and both my kids had it as newborns. I did however change DS onto Heinz as it was heaps cheaper and it smelt so much nicer. I think S26 has a yucky smell.
The only rule I would say to stick with, is make sure you finish a whole tin before making any decisions. It takes several days to a week for their digestive systems to settle into the new formula.
There is no "Best" newborn formula as they all have to met a certain guideline/australian standards.
Each bubs is different and it may be a matter of tryin different brands until you find 1 that works.
The "Gold" will have more enriched iron and a few more vitamins etc in them and it's the iron that causes the constipation.
Both my bubs had trouble with any of the "Golds" and all the S26 brands of formula but both took to the Heinz Nurture Formula.
After tryin the S26's with both i decided to start at the cheaper ones and work my way up to the expensive ones and bang both times me kids took to the first 1 i tried ( Heinz Nurture).

Wiping faces & butts, listening to screaming, chasing them around. Never resting, always thinking of them,

I do recall reading somewhere the HA formulas are good for newborns as they are easier to digest, but they are rather expensive.
My DD has had Karicare Gold and NAN Pro Gold and never suffered constipation in her life. As Mummy2Kobi&Hailee said, all bubs are different and it may take time to find one that agrees with your LO.
It is common for babies to take time to adjust to formula, as Delirium said. Maybe wait a while longer. If youre worried or LO seems like they're in real pain, speak to your Dr.
Hmmmm, so yeah, I pretty much agree with everything already said. I should have just shut my mouth![]()
Bellamy's Organic is where we found the best for our son, but as other's have said it's a case of try it out with your child to see how they react.
Babies are just like bigger kids & adults - what works for one might not work for another.
Good luck with it![]()
My bub was the same (given s26 at the hospital), I then put him on SMA (same maker as s26) and he was constipated.
There is a 'better' formula and it is NAN HA 1. Its proteins are similar to Breast milk, the only formula that is. Easier to digest.
That helped my DS poo back to normal again.
I buy it for $21-23 a tin.
DS had issues with formula and constipation (and that was even after our pead suggested he change formulas).
With DD, I made sure I got something that had probiotics in it. I started her at 6 months of age with Nan Pro Gold, and she's never had a problem on it at all.
As other posters have said, there is no "best".
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
I have started my baby on S26 Gold, however she started to thrown up, then put her on S-26 AR, which helped her with the throwing up. However she was on Infacol to help her with the wind. I think two weeks ago my little one was diagnosed with "silent reflux", so I have changed her to Bellamy's Organic and I am not going back. From the beginning of using the new organic formula I've stopped using Infacol and she burps so easily now and digesting it easily. She only threw up once on it, where even with S-26 AR, she would be throwing up at least once a day. Also I've reduced using Losec from three times to twice and we have less screaming. So from my experience I would only use BELLAMY'S. And I found that $24 a tin (buying direct from the manufacturer) is nothing compare to their HEALTH.
