    Default Glucose Test Timing

    Hi Ladies,
Just wondering if anyone knows how strict the glucose test is.. im due to have it in a bit over a week when i get to 26 weeks but logistically it is difficult with a toddler, she goes to daycare one day week on a thurs which is generally for all my medical stuff but in week 26 i already have a scan and ob appt booked in the morning and would like the glcose test before that so they can give me my results otherwise i wont get them for a while, so anyway was thinking of going this thurs but ill be 4 days short of 26 weeks..will that matter?

    Hi there
I don't think they're too strict but I would say that it would prob be better to go few days after, rather than earlier...usually you're supposed to have it at 28 weeks, my doc asked me to have mine @ 27 weeks & i went at 27 wks 5 days & that was fine.
So, i wld prob plan for the daycare day the following week?
    Hope this helps

Thanks siarrasmum! i might do that then, just didnt want to wait a month for my results but it probably better i wait... such a tricky one when you have to wait an hr whilst doing it, just impossible with a toddler!!!

My doctor has booked my for the blood test in 2 weeks and I will only be 24 weeks, That can't be right can it?

Aren't you meant to have the blood test drink the drink then get another blood test a hour later?

    Hey girls,

Meggs, id leave it till the week after like pp said.

I had mine done yesterday, was one day off 28 weeks. Ob had said should be done close as possible to 28 weeks. You have the drink, wait an hour then have the blood test (no blood test before the drink)

i didn't have mine done till 29weeks coz i just couldn't get there earlier. My DS had gastro for a week before that and I sure as hell wasn't doing the 2 HOUR one with a gastro 4 yr old!!
I didn't get in trouble so I'm sure you'll be perfectly fine
I also didn't make it back to the doctor until more like 6weeks then rather than 4 weeks but she was fine with it.

The timing isn't set in stone. The test itself is completely optional anyway, and I certainly won't be taking it.
