    Default The pill

I am thinking of going on the pill, not for birth control but because I have really bad mood swings with AF and I feel horribly bloated and just generally rotten for about 14 days of the month and my poor DF is having a hard time with it

I was wondering if anyone can suggest a pill with minimum bad side effects. My main concern is weight gain. I am getting married in 5 months and I actually need to LOSE weight to be able to fit into my dress

Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks!

I am on Levlen 20mg and they are great...Dont have side effects and they work well to control the craziness of periods and ovulation. Down side I guess is you have to remember to take it everyday at the same time.

Have you tried Evening Primrose Oil??? I take a combo of EPO and Fish Oil and find it helps immensely! That and Iron....

For me, the pill either made my moods worse, or in most cases actually made me absolutely flat.... nothing was bad, but on the same token, nothing was good either.....

I used to get tablets from a naturopath because my periods were painful, left me feeling like crud, and affected my moods. I can't recall what they were, but that had a few ingredients in them that I can remember: Wild Yam, Crampbark, Viburnum I think, to name a few. ANyway, on these tablets, which I took once a day from about 2 days before each period was due, and I had NO SIDE EFFECTS at all... my periods changed to being completely normal, painless, non-events. No emotional highs and lows, no bloating, no cramping etc.

Speak to a herbalist or naturopath and see what they have to offer before you go adding chemical hormones to your body on a daily basis. It might be the best thing you ever do.

I used to use Monofeme and had no side effects.
I would go with Anonnymouses suggestion though, I dont think I will ever go back on the pill again. I found being on the pill DF and I clashed a lot and that wasn't because of PMS or anything.

When I was on the pill I found it made me more moody and gain weight / bloated etc but everyone is different. I was on Levlen ED.

I dont know if they still make them but I was on Tricular ED. I kept slim while on them and had no PMS symptoms at all. I was on them from 17 and off at 28 and started to stack weight on as soon as I went off it so it seemed to keep my weight down somehow.

Lots to think about, thanks everyone. If anyone else has any suggestions, it would be great to have some others. I will definately see a natropath and give the natural things a go! I'm not really all that keen to go on the pill but this is getting ridiculous and I have to do something
