Default Why do girls do this to themselves?

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_423855.html

Above is Heidi Montag, from MTV show The Hills. She's 23 - my age. On the left, her "before" she looks 23. On the right, she looks like a 40-year-old TRYING to look 23.

Why do girls do this to themselves?

Now, I understand insecurity. I'm about as insecure as they come... but I dunno, the thought of completely mutilating my entire body sickens and saddens me. I may not be perfect, but I don't see how making myself plastic and fake would someone make me closer to that perfection.

It really saddens me that this is the world DD will grow up in... where 23-year-olds are getting botox, huge fake boobs, lips off even their NECK, etc.

Was she horrible BEFORE? No. I actually think she looks better before... but that's really not the point. The point is that she has been lead to believe that she's not good enough as she is. That she's ugly without all this work. All this work that could have lead to her death. All this work that was no doubt costly and painful.

I'm all for wearing a bit of make-up to look nicer, wearing slimming underwear, etc, but it's not permanent. It's not painful. It's not... sad.

I dunno, I just felt so sad seeing this.

That breaks my heart, she doesn't even look like herself. I thought she was very pretty before hand, now she's just fake.

They do it because they have low self-esteem, obviously this is the case with her and she wants to be so called "perfect". IMO she was much more beautiful when she looked herself and natural.

    hrrrmmm is this real?

I know she got work years ago, on her nose and boobs which is the result of how she looks now on the Hills and picture A. The second pic doesn't even look like Heidi.

But I saw a live interview with her and Spencer the othr day and she still looks the same?? as in picture A...

But on a whole its pretty bad that she feels the pressure to make herself 'better' when she certainly does not have to, esp when she does look better before (if this is true footage)

Um i think that second photo has been photoshopped. In BOTH pictures she has the exact same pose, her hands, her fingers, her legs, everything! I wouldnt believe it.

If you look at recent paparazzi photo's though (as in the last week or 2) she looks like the second pic. So I do beleive it's real.

Society is just becoming more and more obsessed with looks, moreover having women look unatural like a barbie doll. It's awful.

Women need to stand up against air brushing and digital images of women that give false ideas, and to take a stand against the average super skinny starlett in the latest hollywood movie.

The whole thing is vile unnatural and awful.

Just to let you all know this is her second lot of surgeries. The 'before' pic in this case is already after she had a breast augmentation and facial surgeries. She has admitted to those surgeries too and you only have to watch the first episodes of the Hills compared to now to see what a difference there is! She was a pretty, natural and fresh looking young girl to start with.
