Above is Heidi Montag, from MTV show The Hills. She's 23 - my age. On the left, her "before" she looks 23. On the right, she looks like a 40-year-old TRYING to look 23.
Why do girls do this to themselves?
Now, I understand insecurity. I'm about as insecure as they come... but I dunno, the thought of completely mutilating my entire body sickens and saddens me. I may not be perfect, but I don't see how making myself plastic and fake would someone make me closer to that perfection.
It really saddens me that this is the world DD will grow up in... where 23-year-olds are getting botox, huge fake boobs, lips off even their NECK, etc.
Was she horrible BEFORE? No. I actually think she looks better before... but that's really not the point. The point is that she has been lead to believe that she's not good enough as she is. That she's ugly without all this work. All this work that could have lead to her death. All this work that was no doubt costly and painful.
I'm all for wearing a bit of make-up to look nicer, wearing slimming underwear, etc, but it's not permanent. It's not painful. It's not... sad.
I dunno, I just felt so sad seeing this.
