    Smile Lets talk about sewing

How many machines do u have? Ive got a janome sewing machine and the same brand in an over locker. I would luv to have another sewing machine and overlocker and I know this sounds lazy but Id luv to have two of each only coz sometimes i can be so lazy to change the colour thats in my overlocker that I wish I just had another one!!!

Does anyone have an ideal sewing room? I live in a big home now and would luv a seperate room for sewing, maybe Ill go halvies with DH in his computer room!!

Weve been living in this new home since August and have 2 girls and Id luv to sew more and get into it again. I wish I had a permanent set up that I wouldnt always have to pack away and I would so luv a big cabinet for it all and maybe a cutting table too.

    Maybe when I retire hey!!

Does anyone find that once they get back into it they cant stop?? and that once they'd put it away they dont touch the machines in a whille? Im feeling a bit creative and probably just dreaming of what I could actually have!!

If u are into sewing, what sort of sewing do u do? embroidery?, quilting?? clothes?? Do u find time to do it any more with kids around?? Is it more fun now that u can create things for your children?? What would be your dream sewing area? Sorry for all the questions!

I have a sewing room, its the garage! The door opens straight intot the kitchen so basically its an extra room!
My DH made benches in an L shape along the walls so I have the sewing machine, overlocker and my computer/printer all set up permanently. I have an old kitchen table as my cutting table.
Under the benches I have big tubs of fabrics etc and on shelves above I have all the threads and other stuff.
I have my snap press screwed into the cutting table!!! all in all a VERY nice set up! the kids have the other side of the garage as their playroom.

Ummmm I make clothes from 00 to up to about a 6 and library bags, santa sacks all that sort of stuff. Ive tried quilting but although I made a nice one it didnt interest me that much!!! I would sew only about 3 times a week or when the kids are in bed and once I start wont stop til I have made something!!

ive got a brother sewing machine and a cheapy overlocker (which shiz me to tears with the tension settings eugh!!) i too hafto get it out and pack it all away each time which bugs me and probably stops me from sewing as much as i would like, this sounds weird but i have a foot stool i put my sewing machine on and i sit on the floor and sew with the pedal under one knee (with my legs crossed) lol a bit random but its so comfy that way <3

Ive just got my sewing room back

(was taken over by other things for a while ... but now I have a table for sewing/cutting, a huge chest of drawers for my (major) material stash, a sewing cabinet table thingy for overlocker, storage for everything .... and best of all, can leave it set up, so when Miss 3 interrupts, I can get back to it later

(as you can guess, I am pretty happy to have my room back )

I also have a cheap overlocker which does the job.

I had a pfeifer sewing machine, but it died, so i just use mums singer machine now and her entire office is a sewing room i'm allowed to use (sometimes).

I prefer embroidery/cross stitch these days though, just because i can take it with me and do it anywhere

I used to make my own clothes though. We make quilts, um...i made all my own cloth pads.

when i move out i'll look into a new sewing machine, and then i'll buy an overlocker as well - but i don't have anywhere to put it yet, so i might as well wait

I have a tiny little horn cabinet set up with my two machines on it and really its not enough for the ambitions I have lol. I lost my sewjo a while ago and I've been trying to get it back. Hopefully when I'm caught up completely with all my housework it'll come back to me lol. I've still been designing though. mainly really late at night when I can't sleep lol

I have two machines and a Brand new singer overlocker which I LOVE!! I have a permanent set up on a huge desk but use the dining table for a cutting table as it's a HUGE square table! Perfect! I haven't sewn much in AGES , but I just got a BFP and I can already feel the itch to get back into it! I have a whole stash of mcn and prefolds to make, minkee quilts for the pram and the cot, clothes and bibs and wraps and ring slings lol so I'll be very busy! Im making DP some organic cotton boxers tomorrow because I refuse to pay $15 for one pair of undies!!

Lipsmacker - lol at wanting extra machines so you don't have to change the thread!

I'm so jealous of all your sewing setups and especially those who have a whole room! I just have the one Janome sewing machine and hopefully getting an overlocker soon. I've just gotten into making baby things. I made a quilt/comforter for my DD2 and a few weeks ago I tried my hand at making baby bloomers with ruffles on the bottom. They just look so adorable. I've also been making matching singlets and have been lucky enough to sell a few now
I also want to try make a quilt aswell as a minky blanket. I'm just waiting on my fabric order to arrive from the US! So excited, they seem to have much nicer fabric

What's everyone else working on at the moment?
