    Default PEG infection???

Ok we were up the coast for the xmas and the new years period. Lachie got a temp of 38.5 for 4 days so we went to the hossie at Tweed Heads as it was the closest one. I knew he had a chest infection so they tried to canulate 3 times but couldnt so I suggested we just go oral anti's and we could go back, as we have our own oxygen and stuff to manage his levels... However he isnt sounding any better and now his PEG has been leaking like this green stuff so Im not sure if it is like a puss or if it is gastro fluid, it was put in july 1 2009 and has neva really healed like always had ganulation n stuff round it but no one has ever said it is bad... But now with his cough n this green stuff im not sure if i should just take him to our hossie now we r home n get a second opinion... I guess im trying not to as i want to avoid hossies. Im over them n I guess im just having a down day... But wat to do....

Green stuff(watery) is usually the bile from below the duodenum (sp) and isn't good, Would go to hospital.. his bowel is backing up to the point where its all flowing back up and out of his PEG... Yellow is okay green isn't, hospital sucks.. I feel your pain!!! If its puss and he ihas signs of infection he probably needs IV abs to start him off!!!
