    Default fish oil ?

i contacted the asthma victoria foundation for some info to see what i could do to ease ds's asthma and the info they sent out had a bit about omega 3 vitamins and how some people find them to relieve asthma symptoms or stop them all together.it also said it wasnt a complete cure.
i was just wondering if anyone has given their children these sort of vitamins and if they noted a change in asthma?

I have only just started the boys on Natures Way 'Kids Smart' on Thursday, so I've had no noticable difference as yet.
But I did see a doco on Omega 3 recently and they had found that omega 3 is only effective if you don't have too much omega 6 in the diet. In the limited research I have started having too much omega 6 in your diet can also cause asthma amongst other things.
The recommended rates are 1-4 times more omega 6 to omega 3. So far I've found that omega 6 is a primary oil ingredient added to most processed foods and is found in commonly used cooking oils, including sunflower, safflower, corn, cottonseed, and soybean oils and is also found in meat products.
I have only just started researching this so I don't have a great deal of info at the moment.
I'll let you know if I find anything else helpful or interesting.

My little one is 14 months and the Natures Way Kids Smart is fine for them. It says 1-2 caps per day and you just cut the tail off (their in a fish shape) and squirt it in his mouth.

My dd is 15mths old and I was going to give her the Kids Smart fish oil tabs but it says on the bottle for children from 3 yrs.

They still might be able to have them but I would probably check first.

Oh yes Kids Smart fishies are fantastic, just a shame I have to give them to the kids....would rather have them myself!
