    Default Alternatives to portacots?

I'm OVER my huge ancient portacot. I hate it and so does DS.
We are going away for 10 days in jan and I need something to put him in.
We are staying in a small apartment and I'd love something I can put on a bed/floor etc
He'll be 8 months and rolls around alot so obviously something with sides but nice and small!!
    What alternatives have you found?

We use to sleep DS just between the two of us in the bed. However if you are staying in a hotel often they will make up a portocot bed for babies for free or a very small charge.

Theres those little pop-up style ones, like little tents. I've not used one, and I can imagine that Jasper wouldn't have liked it, but its an alternative.

Otherwise I'd just have bub sleep with us in the bed at night and nap in his pram - because he does quite well in the pram.

The best travel cots that I have found are the Phil & Teds travel cot and the KinderKot. They are both extremely light and will fit in your suitcase.

I ended up buy the P&T because I would of struggled getting them out KinderKot because you get them out from the side on the floor. That being said, the KinderKot is easier to set up.

It is really up to you what you would find easier.

We have the Kinderkot and it's great, but you can't use it on a bed because they can push it from the inside and I get the feeling it might be able to be pushed over if it's on a soft surface.

We took ours for a trip interstate and DS loved it. We also use it in the yard to sit him in if there's mozzies about - just chuck in a few toys to keep him happy.

We have a P & T one also and I love it! It was tricky figuring out the setting up of it -very much like a tent. Ours is from 2006 tho and I think they have improved a bit. There's a BabyBjörn one that is similar and another brand as well actually, Nomad I think but i could be wrong. Have a look on google or head to the baby shop.

Ours weighs like 3kgs, fits in your suitcase and the netting zips on the top which is great for keeping bugs out.
