    Default Feeling very scared!

    Hi Everyone

We've been TTC #1 for 13 months & I got my BFP last Thursday & have been feeling on every since, well, that is until yesterday. I went to see my GP. She basically said that because it's my first pregnancy that there is a high chance of m/c. I'm so stressed now. I was feeling so happy & positive & now I just can't seem to get these negative thoughts out of my head.

Sorry, I just need to vent. DH & I haven't told anyone yet, so I'm feeling very alone as I don't want to concern DH about my feelings.

What?? Your GP sounds like an idiot! What is she basing that on?
That is a load of crap. There is no reason why a first pregnancy is more likely to end in m/c. Get a new GP.

    Congrats on your pregnancy!

There is no more chance of m/c the 1st than it happening with 2nd,5th or 8th even. What a silly Dr, what was the point of telling you that

    OMG WHAT?????

Time to get yourself a new GP hun. Thats outrageous that she even said that to you. Stress is not healthy for your baby and Im so angry that your GP is the source of your stress.

Forget what they said, its a load of bullsh!t. GP's tend to know a little bit about everything, and never enough when it matters. but with pregnancy, it doesnt matter if its your first or tenth pregnancy, the risks are the same. Forget about it. And put it in perspective - there are risks with freakin everything - each time you get in your car you risk being in an accident. Each time you eat chips and fried chicken you increase your risk of heart disease, just take what the GP said with a grain of salt

Please dont let this GP manage your pregnancy. Go to another one or get a referral to an Obstetrician to manage your bub.

And CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOu should be excited, I totally understand what TTC for a long time is like, you will be a brilliant mumma . When you go for your first scan and see lil peanut staring back at you, you will forget what the GP said.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I really cant believe your GP said that to you! Personally I think regardless of whether this is your first pregnancy, second or third etc, it doesn't mean you have a higher chance of miscarriage than the other. If it is going to happen then it will, not just because it is your first pregnancy.
Dont worry yourself with this silly comment, although easier said than done. Enjoy being pregnant, you have so much to look forward to!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

That is such a horrible thing to say to someone- and stressing out will not be good for you or the baby...

My pregnancy was not planned and I have Lupus- so when we conceived I was on a fair bit of medication. The first GP I went to told me to terminate right away, gave me a referal letter and everything!!! I went to another GP- Who sent me to a specialist- who said EVERYTHING was FINE!!!!!! And now im expecting a Boy and a Girl!!!!

You should just enjoy your pregnancy- and change Drs thats for sure this is an exciting time for you and your partner

    Hi Iris,

I can't believe your GP said that to you. If you want reassurance though I would request a 6 week ultra sound, that way you can see the lil heart beating away and it will give you some peace of mind.

I know it is easier said than done but try and relax and not worry and enjoy being pregnant. You've been waiting for this moment for so long, don't let some pessimistic GP ruin the moment for you.

    P.S CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN

Your GP is an asshat and don't you dare believe her for a second!!!!!!

The probability of m/c has nothing to do with when you have your baby!!!

I"m sorry, this has really annoyed me! Doctors should have more sense than this and to give your negative information like that is just bang out of order.

As long as you feel fine, then most likely bub is fine.

Baby #1 is nerve wracking!! That's the last thing people should say to you.

    Oh and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

When I fell pregnant with DD I had not only my GP but all of my family who I told saying things like "Don't get your hopes up" etc
I hate the way people seem to think it is their duty to prepare you for the worst... usually using the least tact possible!

Congratulations on your !!! As hard as it can be, try to push away the negative and pessimistic comments and opinions and focus all your good energy inwards for you and your new bub!
    He (29), Me (27) and DD (1) make 3!
    But wait... there's more!
Now our little family is 4!

I agree with everyone else - your GP is an idiot.
The chance of a m/c is not any higher for a first pregnancy at all - that is just bollocks.
Please don't let her crazy ideas get in way of your excitement.
    Congratulations on your pregnancy

    How's the serenity?
