Student Midwife/Doula for RBWH Birth in March

Good morning

I'm considering engaging a student midwife or doula for the birth of our first baby at the in March 2010. As we are booked into the Birth Centre I don't know if we should or not as my understanding is the midwife assigned will be giving us quite close support.

What do you think?

Go for it - doulas do offer different support from middies and for that matter, will absolutely transfer with you if you get kicked off birth suite, will attend you at home and you can spend quality time getting to know them b4 the births... almost all offer packages of support antenatally and postnatally as well as attendance at the birth.

But I'd hurry up with the doula shopping if I were you, they book up fast!
