    Default Dad 2 Be Soon

    Hi Guys,

I've lurked thru this site a few times now, so I thought I would let you know about my (our) situation.

Firstly, this seems to be a female orientated forum (not a problem at all). It's just that I found it hard, being a male, to just jump in with my thoughts. Now that I've found a relevent area, here's our story.

My beautiful wife doesn't have the patience with computers, so that's why I'm posting this.

We've been trying to have children for close to 6 years now . . sadly with no luck. Now finally we have taken the step to visit a reproductive specialist and we are now on our way to ,hopefully, the thing we have so much wanted for so long.

Last week we went for (more) tests. We had had them all before and everything checked out. That was the most frustrating thing. Only this time after a more thorough examination it was found that I have anti-bodies around my little fellas.

So in the coming weeks we will be heading back for AI (after I produce another sample. With all the ones I've done so far I wouldn't be surprised if all I get is dust LOL). So fingers crossed.

Thanks for taking the time for reading,

    Wish us Luck

    Knucky
    (as in Knuckles our Beagle)

Default Brand new embryo....check it out.

    Knucky, hello there stranger

It's nice to see what I call, another XY chromer here. Geez mate, your story sounds so similar to mine, I think you may have been stalking me. Trying for six years without success must have been quite a strain and left you both wondering considerably. Wifey and I, funnily enough were somewhere around that time frame too. So like what Tom Jones said...."It's not unusal". We woke up one morning and said we need to move on this NOW!

So after several SA's (4 in total so far), scans, pokes and prods (wife)...wifey and I are at the stage of having an embryo implanted only this morning (Fri 6th). My avatar shows an image of it. (top left). I also have a hard copy of it here sitting in front of me. It really is amazing. Just you wait.

Explain the anti-body thing to me. I'm not up on that problem. And as for dust...I think you're being a little hard on yourself. Just wait and see what develops. You will be knocked over to know what the reproductive gurus can do. Take it easy on the grog and smokes if you go that way, get some exercise and keep those stress levels undercontrol. This is most important.

I have a bit of a morphology problem, but last Tuesday at our egg pick up (EPU) which, of course, involves another SA (man, you never get used to them), they managed to fish out enough good tadpoles to mix with our 5 eggs.

Keep us informed with you and wifey's progress as there aren't too many guys around here as you've noticed.

Good luck and never................say never OK.

    Cheers.

    Paul

    Guys,

Excellent news for Paul. And I have all my fingers crossed for Knucky! The antiobodies thing happens when you have different blood types (pos vs neg) in the parents sometimes. It is normally not too major but I'm not sure how that effects IVF, I'm sure it does not help

All the best for the next 9 months and beyond.

    Regards

Hey Knucky ( and Paul), good luck to you both.

Mrs and I tried for 5 years before we got ours, and I can tell you, you forget the wait when you get the present.

again, Good luck to you both!

    Default ...finally...

    Hi guys.

Wifey and I did two preggers test just a little while ago. Our formal blood test isn't until Nov 24 and as usual....we couldn't wait. So after two tests, they both came back to tell us we're finally pregnant. How awesome is that! One of the most amazing things is I'm 45, wifey just turned 40 and I have a sperm morphology problem. That absolutely awesome embryologist was able to pull out enough good sperm to get that little egg nailed. I can't believe it. I even took photos of the preggers test sticks. This was our very first round of IVF and if the wheels don't fall off, we may just have a little one by August 2010.

If all you blokes were here right now I'd be buying you a big, frosty glass of beer.

    Cheers to all

Awesome news Paul, now the journey begins. All the best. As for the photos of the tests, sounds like something I'd do. Something to put on their 21st birthday photo board

Thanks for the good luck wishes everyone, we did the AI last Sunday (Nov 15). So now we just wait it out. . . again.

Mattus, as for the present being worth the wait, I don't doubt that one little bit. Can't wait.

Again well done Paul. (I'll have a light frosty for you in celebration. )

    Until the next update,

    All the best

    Knucky

    Hi guys.

Tomorrow morning Nov 24th is the one. We go into the clinic for our BT appointment at 7:30am. We've been doing a few home preggers test and they are continually coming up with a big fat pregnant. This is totally unexpected for us both. Everyone has been telling us you never get pregnant on your first round (ivf) especially with our age. Me 45 with my morph. problems, and wifey just turned 40. I know so much can still go wrong, but right here and now, we are pregnant. Something we never thought we'd hear each other say.

Knuckster - Where are you guys at after the AI on Nov 15th?

I knew my offer of free grog was going to hurt.

Good luck to everyone with where ever you are along the rocky road of fertility.
