Default Web resources for natural births?

    Hi guys,

I've just come back from calmbirth classes and am all enthused about having as natural a birth as possible.

Does anyone know some good websites for reading more about natural birth theories? I love research and am thinking I'll do a bit more reading when on maternity leave.

Also, if anyone can recommend some more relaxation CD's that would be great.

    Thanks!
    Bec.

Here are a few that may help out.
    http://www.womenofspirit.asn.au/

    http://www.mothering.com/

    http://www.pinky-mychild.com/

    http://www.pregnancy.com.au/

The natural parenting forum is fantastic. I am not a member but often use them as a resource. It might be a good place to get chatting with other mums who have had the natural birth they wanted.
Good on you for getting out their and looking for what you want. have faith in your body and mind and you'll achieve amazing things. The most amazing natural high I have ever exoerienced was giving bit=rth to my children.
PM me if you want any more info-I can probably dig up more sites for you.

Also look out for some books-Try Alternative Maternity- this is a fantastic book but I'm not sure if it's still in print.

THE NATURAL WAY TO A BETTER PREGNANCY

THE NATURAL WAY TO BETTER BIRTH AND BONDING

These last two books are by the authors Francesca Naish and Janette Roberts. They are amazing women who have written amazing books. They are both Naturopaths who specialize in fertility and are both based in Sydney.
I would highly recommend Googling their names and getting hold of their books.

Wow - thanks so much for the quick and detailed replies!

Can't wait to get reading. Anywhere you can find more positive stories about birth would be great. I accept that on the day anything can happen, but it's so good to hear that it doesn't have to be "pain, pain relief, birth/caesar"!

    Thanks again,
    Bec.

To be honest, Bec, when I went in to have my first bub it didn't even occur to me that I wouldn't have a vaginal birth. I was induced due to PE but it never crossed my mind that a C-sec would be even mentioned. I don't know if that was because it was 8 years ago and they weren't as readily given or not. I went into birth with an open mind a mind full of knowledge that I had gleaned from people and books (no net then!). Until I joined a mum's group, I had never met anyone who had had a C-sec.
Stay true to yourself and set your mind where you want to be when the time comes. Going into birth with a Csec as an option (non-medical) tends to up the chances of one occuring. if you are having a regular pregnancy (an exciting one, I'm sure!) and all is well at birth, there shouldn't be a reason to even contemplate a C-sec. All the best.

Bambino - might wait til I'm not at work to check out that one then! I'll try to squeeze some computer time in between packing on the weekend.

Funkychicken, I'm complication free, actually loving being pregnant (that has gotten me some eye rolls!), apart from heartburn and some achy limbs, no probs at all. So I'm not anticipating any intervention being necessary. Who wants surgery if you can avoid it
