Default I am ready to make the change!

I am so sick of feeling yuck and uncomfortable each month all week and then throwing our money in the garbage!

The twins are in part-time cloth and I plan on making it full-time. It made me realise how much money I am probably spending on pads.

I am worried the cup would feel like a tampon and I am not a fan of tampons.

What brand of cup is the best? I wish I could look at them like you can things at the shops.
I like the looks of the pads too!

My DP thinks it is a silly idea, but I have told him to suck it up and look at the money we can save

Any words of wisdom from the cloth pad mummies?

I've not looked at the Cup so can't advise, but I love the pads I bought, wish I had done it sooner. So much cheaper, and much more comfortable.

I'm going down this path too... hopefully someone can answer your questions (I personally don't think i could handle the cup).

First of all the cup. I changed a few mths ago (but only used it for three mths so far for various reasons)

It is AWESOME. Tampons hurt me when insert them, the touch something i dont think they should and it hurts, but when i use the cup, i swear you cannot feel it at all. You only have to change it every 12 hrs at the most, its a but tricky to get it in and out the first few times but once you get the hang of it, you will not turn back (TMI: i would advice putting a smear of lubricant on the cup for the first few times, i still do it though)

Second the cloth pads. They are so absobant and soft, it doesnt even feel like you are wearing them at all, i have 14 pads and and going to buy some more soon. I just use them, rinse and chuck in a bucket of water, then throw them in with my nappies, i use softener on my clothes so i cant put them in there. But once you switch i guarantee you wont go back, Take the plunge, its fantastic.

I have a cup and love it! although haven't had to use it for a while!

I have the lunette (i think) google obsidean star - it has a review and heaps of info about cups, i hope I have spelt it right.

Pads....I much prefer the cup over pads, but have liners from when I was pregnant and they are lovely. The wild child ones and ummm, I can't remember the other brand....she has a shop in the cloth pad shop and sells nappies as well. Will get back to you on that. They are bamboo velour topped and have a PUL backing - I like the security of the PUL.

I love cloth pads, I wish I had done it sooner. Better for my budget and better for the environment. I can't use tampons, so I won't even attempt the cup.

Thanks for the replies ladies. I have AF now and hopefully by next time I will have a cup or some pads. I am going to try and get to a womens expo/show that is suposedly on next weekend.

When I move I am going to whip mums machine out and have a go at making some pads .

I can wash them with bubs nappies right? I have to do a load each day anyway!
