Exclamation I think he swallowed a coin...?

I think L just swallowed a coin- he is breathing ok- but coughing trying to bring it up and is a bit upset.

I am typing one handed so will add full story later, but is it ok to put him down for a nap?

They have been up since 6:20 with only a 30 min nap this morn....

I don't have a car today as Dp was being lazy & took it to work, so can't take him to dr...

Coughing is good, it's impossible to cough if you're not breathing

I'd probably hesitate to put him down for a nap, because the coughing suggests that it's still in his windpipe somewhere and so could affect his breathing at any time. Laying him down flat may aggravate it. If he absolutely needs to sleep then keep him somewhere close where you can keep an ear and eye on his breathing.

Oh god being the worry wart I am I would ring my Dr if I couldn't get to one or even the Health direct line. I wouldn't let him nap incase its still in his windpipe and he make choke in his sleep.

No I would not put him down for a sleep he just swallowed a coin!

Ring the hospital and ask them but if he is coughing and it is still in his air ways what happens if it turns and cuts off his air???

I would not be laying him down
Be careful when letting go of things you think mean nothing to you, You just might end up looking back and realising you let go of something you wanted after all...

As soon as I posted he returned to normal, so I am fairly certain it's now in his tummy, getting a nice shine from all the acids down there.

    Thanks all

At least call the Dr or hospital first. Can you put him to sleep on you and keep him upright. If he needs one that bad then that's what I'd be doing. Good luck. I'd probably be in the closest cab or calling my Mum but I tend to go overboard. But yeah call the Dr, they'll have the best advice.

It might be worth a call to 13-HEALTH to check if there's anything you need to do. I'd imagine they'll just get you to make sure it comes out the other end and doesn't get stuck inside. I'd call though - just to be sure.

Coins can be so dangerous - my mum nearly died when she was little because she ate the milk money on the front step.
